My Struggle with Infertility - The Beginning

I wanted to share something that is a very personal struggle and this is something not tons of people know about me. It is kind of in-depth so I am going to break it up over a couple posts. I don't want to bore you to tears :). This is not meant to be a depressing post in fact I hope it will help some people, people I know even, who have or are currently going through this.

Here is my story from the start. When I was 14 years old I went into my OBGYN's office because of pain. That’s…

Why I blog

In 2011, I joined the growing and oft-maligned ranks of online writers known as the “mommy bloggers” with my particular offering: grayhairedmom.com. Why, you may ask, did I become a blogger? Even more, you may be wondering, what gave me the gray hair, and why would anyone be interested?

No Filter

We all know that kids really don't have any kind of a filter when it comes to speaking their minds.  The thoughts just tumble out of their mouths like the trash rolls out of my purse when it falls over.  They don't mean to hurt your feelings -- they just call it like they see it.  For example, when they say I have a…

About a Happy Scar

Meet my new scar. I’ve had it for less than a year, the result of a fall that occurred in January. Pulling closer my hand is my 3 month old. He was conceived last December. It feels to me like the scar and the baby were some sort of a strange package deal. This post discusses a struggle with fertility, a miscarriage and yes, you guessed it, a scar but it’s about a baby. I’d like to think it might instill hope in those seeking it and shed some light on the subject of struggling with…

Letting it all hang out

Not literally of course, that wouldn't be pretty at my age.  I'm referring to writing honestly and not holding things back.

In my professional life I am known as a very well-respected expert in the field of cat behavior. I have written 7 books on the subject and have worked full-time in this field for 25 years. I am IAABC certified and AABP certified and enjoyed having a career where I feel confident. That's when something happened to my common sense and reasoning and…

The Infertility Dance

Great expectations not always timely

Sometimes with childbirth, the real labor part comes at the beginning and not the end

By LESLIE DINABERG

Driving across town with a vial of my husband’s freshly spun sperm staying warm beneath my blouse, I thought, “I must really want to have a baby.”

After almost three years of trying to conceive, I would have hopped down State Street on stilts and squawked like a chicken if I thought… Continue
