There is a blog on the web that I enjoy reading called "Single Dad Laughing
". It offers a humorous, yet often times serious point of view on certain topics. While becoming a frequent reader of this blog, I was finding myself wanting to comment on the various topics. Sometimes I agree with the perspective reflected, but often times, I disagree, which in turn makes me want to offer my own point of view. The problem with simply…

I found a nail salon does the trick.
I realize it's a risky endeavor and it could have gone a completely different way. I was a brave future step mom to take that chance. This is where I use the tired old excuse; I only had one child to raise and with… Continue

Have you ever seen that movie, Sliding Doors
, with Gwyneth Paltrow?
It's about a girl who loses her job. She goes to catch the tube home early. In one instance she makes the train, but in another (parallel) instance, she watches the doors slide close, and she misses it. The movie follows both scenarios.
This movie fascinated me on the scale of what if? The what… Continue

Two summers ago, these two little girls came unexpectedly into my life. Unexpected because I did NOT want to date anyone who had children. Not because of the children, I love kids. It's the other parent I have problems with and that messy situation is a little too much, so I thought. There's plenty of single childless men in the sea, right?
But.......the man upstairs had other plans (and isn't that JUST what I get for thinking that?).
I am glad he knows better than I,… Continue

Possible? Plausible? Urban legend?
Actually no. Listen all you parents of young girls, you don’t have to stress. I have the secret to success and since I have been asked, many times to share it, I thought, what better way than my daughter’s sixteenth birthday week.
First off, throw out the schedules, unless you want your child a stressed out ball of anxiety, screeching monkey, and peeling the wall paper. Micro-managing is not the answer. Forget it. I think the most routine we… Continue

Not life. Not spirit. Not soul. My job. I quit my job and I have no regrets.
No job is perfect, there are always little things here or there that could change. Sometimes workers might not see the “big” picture that a company does. One particular way is not always the best way and we have to rely on management, trusting they know what is best, for the smoothness of the company operation. It takes a lot of confidence… Continue

I’ve been car dancing for as long as I can remember. Maybe I got a little more free with my moves when tinted windows became popular. I guess I thought I was semi-hidden until someone I knew saw me and never
let me live it down. Eventually, I just didn’t care anymore. I busted
my moves, cut my rug, and mashed those potatoes – in the car, in the
grocery aisles, on the sidewalks. If the mood struck, I was DANCING.
Of course the fine art of car dancing is no fun alone, so… Continue

Here I was working steadily away (OK, pretending to) and I feel this thing hit my hair by my face.
The first thought was a terrifying one. A wasp. I jumped so high out of my chair that I think I left my socks there. Here I am yelling like a mad woman and running away from it.
You have to understand that we have a wasp problem in our lovely town. Everyone complains about them as they build nest upon nest on your house. You no sooner rid your house of them and they return. I… Continue
