Black Bean Superfood Fingers

So far (knock on wood), my 9 month old will eat anything I give her.  So, I try and give her healthy choices as much as possible.  If everything tasted good, wouldn't you eat the healthiest stuff all the time too!?  I read an article on superfoods for babies and decided to try and pack as many of those as possible into one french fry shaped "finger" that she could easily feed herself.  I found a winning recipe!  I made them over the weekend and they will probably last all week - plus they…

Toddler Foodie

Kinsey girl is 10 months old now (wowzers!), and I have come a long way in the foodie department since I last talked about it here. We went with a hybrid version of Baby Led Weaning, because I am a total nutcase every time Kinsey gags or makes choking noises. Dinner Fail with a Montessori BLW trial

I am from a family restaurant background but I'll never be a short order cook- never!  I just don't believe in it and now my family can blame my folks.  My parents owned and managed small restaurants that required tons of hard work, elbow grease, no vacations, zero free weekends, and lots of dish washing.  But oh, did I eat well!

My dad took care of a steak house and my mom took care of a small fifteen table Korean restaurant- so any type of food I wanted, I could plead for, and…

Baby Led Weaning (BLW) Round 2 and 2.5ish

I like to say "round" instead of stage or trial, since we're in this for the long baby led weaning fight.  We'll be patient and we'll be diligent in our efforts.  I say "we" but it is really like a boxing match- it all depends on the other person (in this case: Bambina).  Even though I'm being a rebel by skipping all the purees and cereals, I am taking the usual 3-4 days in between introducing new foods in case there are any funky allergic-like reactions.

Sillyboy, as an infant,…

ThinkGeek Gifts Week 3: LEDs Make Stuff Cool

For this week's list, I picked some great LED gadgets because I always get comments about how cool the faucet LED is that we have in our kids' bathroom. So I will start with that...

#1) The Faucet LED is great for a couple of reasons. The kids get excited to wash their hands so we rarely have to convince them. The second is that the water turns red when it gets hot. This came in very…
