KIDS! Draw a Slightly Sophisticated Pumpkin

When I was in third grade I did not like my art teacher but he taught me one thing I will never forget--how to make a pumpkin look like it has dimension.

 That started a…

PRUNING MY BOUGANVEILLAS & DJ NOT STICKING AROUND LONG ENOUGH TO HEAR MY TEACHABLE MOMENT

Today, I pruned our bougainvillea bushes. As I did, DJ watched & I could feel his curiosity-temperature rise: "Mom, if you cut the branches, won't you kill the bougainvillea?" AH! A perfect question to a teachable moment. "DJ, when we prune plants, we don't kill…

Gratitude is an Attitude of the Heart

The holiday season is here and most of us are planning and preparing to make our family gatherings a time of joy and celebration. From meals to gift giving, once November 1st arrives, the rush is on and anticipation builds.

For some, it can be a stressful time, for others it is their most favorite time of year. Most years, I find myself feeling a bit of both. When I feel the stress beginning to take hold, I am always brought back to my childhood and the lesson my parents instilled in… Continue

I majored in Political Science, started in sales and am now in marketing. How does that happen? Like it happens to alot of young people who major in something ridiculous like political science! You get out of college, no idea what to do with the obscure degree you obtained (could be that you majored in a language or just general business!) and you get a first… Continue

Growing up, you might remember a time in your life when the only thing scarier than the boogeyman was your dentist. Over the years, you grew to appreciate your dentist and his or her service to your dental health, however, it did take you some time to grow into that mentality. Give your kids a…
