I have a bad habit that I am actively trying to fix. It has to do with mornings. While I make sure that my son sleeps enough and has plenty of time to get ready for school (and now camp) in the morning, it all comes crashing down in the five minutes before we head out the door.…Continue
My son has used up all his screentime and he is wandering around the house. He is wandering around the house moping. And dragging his feet. And sighing heavily. I wait for it...and then he finally releases the statement I've been waiting for: "Mooooommmm...I'm bored."
Of course you are.…

When my son was little, I had a great time picking out books for him. I read him books that I loved when I was little, books that other Moms recommended, and we discovered several new fun series. Some of the books from my childhood had lost their charm, but most of them were like visiting with a very dear friend.…

I have this thing where I like to celebrate my holidays in order. I am one of those people who roll their eyes when they see holiday decorations making an appearance at Halloween and will not start decorating for Christmas until after Thanksgiving is over.…

We have all been to that wedding. You know the one. The one where you are trying very hard to be generally happy for your friend/relative and not say anything overly snarky, but - way down deep - you have a suspicion they are not going to make it as a couple. You don't want to be right, but you can't help how you feel. Then, after time passes and you hear word of the breakup, you have to bite your tongue and never admit to anyone that you…Continue

My husband’s biggest pet peeve with me is that the dishes never seem to get done. The house can be spotless, the kids are still alive and thriving and yet if there are dishes stacked in the sink then the whole world is going to end.
A while ago I followed the organizational guru The Fly Lady, who’s first step…Continue

Here in Ohio, our winter has been incredibly mild this year, and we were all really happy with that, minus not having a white Christmas. However, the last few weeks have brought the cold, snowy weather that we are more familiar with for this time of year.
Only this year, we’ve got a…Continue

I realize this post is quite a bit after my hospital stay, but I thought it would be a good idea to reflect on my hospital packing list for my delivery. I read a lot of articles on what to pack in your labor and delivery suitcase and many of them were repetitive, and some had some great ideas that I haven’t though of. So here is what I packed, and my discussion on whether I used the items or not.

** "Take a nap" keeps getting bumped off my to-do list for some reason.
** My family is an all-you-can-eat buffet for the multiplying mosquitoes in our neighborhood.…
** Onions are NOT my friend.
** Every time I see a Smart Car, I can't help but giggle.
** Being in three different places at one…Continue

I cannot be the only one...whose family is not known for being list makers, no to do list, no grocery list, and absolutely, positively no Christmas lists. I know this sounds silly, how could we possibly expect to receive any gifts we really love if we don't let people know what it is we want, but we never take the time to sit and put pencil to paper to create a list. My family's aversive attitude towards holiday wish list is going to have to change because I have somehow become the PR…Continue

I cannot be the only one...who has realized that the end of another week in December only means seven days closer to Christmas, and that thought is making me break out in a cold sweat. I don't know about the rest of you, but my normal chores don't cease in the name of Christmas, meaning I haven't wrangled up any extra time to spend getting this holiday thing under control.…Continue

Many mom’s don’t think about how their current job duties may affect their health during the course of their pregnancy, especially, towards the very end when you are often the most uncomfortable. Most mom’s will be able to work through the entire duration of their pregnancy with very minimal job restrictions or pregnancy related complications. However, if you…Continue

He was a lonely inmate, I was just trying to sell some crap on Etsy... and now some creep has my personal info. A cautionary tale, with of course a bit of humor.
Let's just say, I won't be doing Etsy anytime soon, and if I do I'll be following my rules.

Being that this is my 3rd time packing for a 3 night, 4 day stay in the hospital (I have C-Sections), I feel well prepared for what’s to come and know just what I need for our time there! I wouldn’t say that I over-pack but I definitely like having my stuff with me so I don’t take…Continue
