Another reason why my son isn't listening to me

My son and I have a deal to help him get through his school morning routine: If my little bear completes his tasks early (dressed, teeth and hair brushed) then he is allowed to play on his iPad. This gives me enough time to make his lunch and do my hair and make-up.…

Kids, NO Means NO…or Does It?

Remember what it was like to be in school, afraid of the big bully in the neighborhood? The documentary Bully reignited the national dialogue about this challenge for kids, following several students and their families over the course of one school year.

Bullying is pervasive in our society today – research indicates that one in three children have been…

Experimenting with Ear Candling

The other night, all three babes in bed and fast asleep, my husband and I poured a little bowl of water, laid out a futon on the living room floor, and lit each others ears aflame! Ha, hot stuff!

I've read many tidbits about the benefits (and criticism) of ear candling these past few years and at long last wanted to give them a proper try. And it certainly couldn't hurt my husband, who quotes an article from a decade ago about "men not hearing women's voices due to pitch differences"… Continue

Black Friday – it’s Not Just About Fashion

Fashion, eh? It comes and goes, then comes back around again, at once fleeting and eternal. A style is in one month and then is never heard of again – until it is heard of again, of course.

The quest for fashionable clothes never ends; it’s just that what is in vogue is always changing.…
