My son's letter to the Tooth Fairy!

Yesterday my son lost a tooth. This was a shock because he lost four of his teeth really early (at 4 years old), then all his other teeth got comfortable. In the morning he mentioned his tooth was shaking a bit and by the time my husband and I got back home after grocery shopping we were told it was waiting for us on the counter. I asked him what he plans to do with it and he told me my mom gave him a quarter. So I told him…

The Power of a Sock

As a parent, it's not only exhilarating but also necessary for survival to get away from your kids every now and then.  Cause let's face it, as cute and as sweet as they are, they can be a giant pain in the ass.  Am I right, or am I right?  However, as much as I enjoy escaping them, I somehow find myself missing the little devils not too long after I'm gone.  (Pathetic, I…

molly is missing and my mother-in-law is heartbroken

Molly is missing and my mother-in-law is heartbroken. Molly is her baby and has been her constant cmpanion for the past five years. For an older woman, who lost her husband, lives alone and recently retired, Molly is more than just a dog, she is part of her family, her best friend. Molly is home with her 24 hours a day, to keep her company, to cuddle with and to talk to if she gets lonely. My mother in law wakes up every Sunday and makes Molly scrambled eggs for breakfast. They spend… Continue

Review of Dina's Lost Tribe, by Brigitte Goldstein

Dina’s Lost Tribe is a historical novel that weaves four different stories and spans from the 14th century to our present time.

Foundit.net - Get Your Stuff Back

Who has never lost or left behind a valuable electronic gadget, bag, computer or mobile phone. I know you can feel it… That exact moment when you realize that your precious object is… missing. Pang. That Bag is Mine! Finds in Luggage Tags

Lost and unclaimed luggage? Someone mistakenly walking away with my suitcase at the carousel? That’s just not in our plans this summer. There is nothing like a lost bag (invariably, the one containing all the essentials) to ruin a vacation. So, as I was preparing our family for our summer getaway, I came across some very cool luggage tags to help us find and even track our luggage. I thought you might find these finds useful too. There is here something…

Ms. Direction

Do you have a GPS navigator in your car?  I don’t because I’m a woman and I always know where I’m going.  And if I don’t, I ask…or use a map.  This ancient method has never failed me yet.

However, as a man, my husband is often lost.  He refuses to ask for directions and the only map he has in his truck is a map of Texas, which really doesn’t help him when he is driving through South Dakota.  So, it is probably a good thing he has GPS navigator in both of his…

WHEN YOU LOSE A CHILD

It is every parent's nightmare. Except this time, it wasn't mine, it was my 5 yr old's. His brother & I were in the children's corner at Barnes & Noble, doing homework. Per Andy's request, I let him stay in the toy section, adjacent to us. He knew where we were, we knew where he was.… Continue

How To Lose Weight

Overweight Americans and childhood obesity have become a huge problem in recent years. With this awareness, many people are looking for ways on how to lose weight. A few important things to remember:

Writing down what you eat is one basic principle to weight loss and maintaining a diet. A second principle to healthy weight loss is to read the food labels. Make sure your grocery items include a lot of fiber and little fat, in other words stock up on lots of vegetables, fruits, peas,… Continue

Books essential for talking to our children about fire safety, not talking to strangers, getting lost and more.

I just posted a list of books that I have read that might help with discussions about fire safety, strangers, and getting lost. Feel free to check them out and to add any books that you may have read that you thought would be helpful to all parents. Thank you so much!

Bacon? No, it's a tooth!

On our camping trip this past weekend, a momentous occasion occurred: our 6-year-old son, James, lost his first tooth (it’s actually the second tooth that is missing. He knocked the first one out just before he was three). We were riding from our campsite to the pool when I hear, “I lost a tooth!” You did? ”Yeah! I thought it was bacon… Continue
