Is society controlling your life?
After getting the kiddos situation in the kitchen with an art project this morning I set off for the family room to fold clothes. Exciting I know! While folding I turned on the TV and quickly found myself being pulled into a talk show. The topic was unconventional marriages. The host was interviewing a traditional Orthodox Jewish marriage. First I found it ironic that the topic was unconventional marriages and the couple was in a traditional marriage. My second thought was, when…

Happy 2nd Birthday to My Baby Boy!
Wow, I can’t believe it has been two years since I was impatiently awaiting for you to arrive. I remember when I was on my way to my final doctors appointment, I didn’t know that it would be my final visit as a pregnant mom. I had a previous history of low amniotic fluid during my previous pregnancy and she order the ultrasound to ensure that I still had enough fluid…

Happy Mother’s Day – Please Come Share What You Love About Being A Mom?
I remember when I was pregnant with my very first baby in 1996 and on Mother’s Day that year, it dawned on me that I was going to be a mom later than year. I was excited, scared, and nervous at the same time. If you are a mom, I am sure that you can relate to all of those feelings. It is scary to think that you will be responsible for a tiny human being and that you have…

What a Thing to Say - I Had Nothing Better to Do
You can find serenity in building a love that stands the tests of time, in-laws and children. When you find that serenity, you will also find peace, comfort and strength.
Over the years, my husband has said some incredible things to me:

Siblings: Love > Guilt
There's the perennial discussion... is it better to be the oldest or the youngest sibling? There are obviously pros and cons to both and it also depends on each individual family, but I think, and my opinion is obviously bias, the older siblings definitely have one thing on the younger siblings.
Older siblings have to live with Older Sibling Guilt (OSG).
Being an older sibling myself in all my years of talking to other older siblings, there is not one, NOT…

Although the 2013 Academy Awards are history, one gem - Amour - will continue to shine. This heartbreaking and unflinching movie was painful to watch but it stimulated conversations with more questions than answers.
As the people we love decline, how do we deal with the inevitable suffering?
Austrian filmmaker Michael Haneke tackled this subject and won the 2013 Academy Award for best foreign language film. The leads, veteran French actors Jean-Louis…

Book Review: Love, Charleston by Beth Webb Hart
I picked up “Love, Charleston” by Beth Webb Hart at book store closing event almost two years ago. I finally was able to get a chance to read this book a few weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. It started out kinda slow in the first chapter but after the first chapter, I was hooked. After reading the book, I understood why the first chapter was a bit slower than the rest of the book. The first chapter explained the history of Pastor and Widower Roy Summerall. It explained why he…

Happy Mother's Day by Silverbird Family
www.HappyMothersDayIsEveryday.com is a youtube video that can be given to any mom. The message says, "I love you mommy" from any child.
People would not exist if it were not for Mother. Even I did not understand why my Mother made such a fuss over me when I was child, but now that I have children of my own, I certainly understand what my Mother went through with me.
This is a wonderful fun calypso reggae style song and once…

Our Valentine's Day... From my iPhone
http://www.thepiggytoes.com/2013/02/15/valentines-day-from-my-iphone/
Valentine’s Day is by far one of my favorite ‘holidays’ but I’m honestly not sure why. It could be because of all the $1 crap I get our 2 little boys that excites them beyond words. Or maybe it’s the excessive eating of chocolate all day that makes my tummy happy. Or maybe it’s that I get to turn everything…

Finding the Right Kind of Replacement
Ever since my autistic son's Orange Tabby Cat (named Orange) went missing three years ago, we have never stopped searching. We went to the shelter the other day think we had finally found him, but alas it was not him. We did see a lot of orange cats that looked a lot like the one that went missing ( we still suspect fowl play from the shady neighbor we had been living across the street from). I think my…
