Hackers Gonna Hack

“Life is short.  Have an affair.” - Ashley Madison

One more “lesson” or disorder - rather, for me to metabolize while watching the news with Alex, my thirteen-year old.  The news of, the site which helps married couples cheat, unfolded over our breakfast together.   I could have changed the channel, however Alex is beyond my clumsy protectiveness.   He is curious.  He wants the truth. …

Juggling beeing a Mompreneur

How do I juggle being a good mother and running Filihood?

I can tell you this... I definitely do not always succeed! It is obvious that when you regularly have to "downgrade"…

Having a baby in a start-up business = bad timing - maybe?

My thoughts on the subject of having a child in the midst of a hectic time for my business

Honestly, I couldn't cope with the idea, when I found out I was pregnant. The timing was lousy, and originally I didn't intend having more children (I already have e beautiful 11…

Almost Classic College Love Story that Proves True Love Exists

I was a timid student back in the day. Shy, keeping silence, seldom taking an active part in competitions and even parties, having difficulties making friends and finding common ground with others. Don’t get me wrong, I had a sheer number of friends, I also had a sheer…

Why I am a Bad Catholic

The other day I found myself in a heated discussion and I slipped up and said a four letter word, and it wasn’t love! To which the other person replied, “What a good Catholic!” It was meant as a jamb, said sarcastically, a way to get a rise out of me. And let me tell you, it worked! I continued to yell in frustration, I can’t even remember what I said but I needed to get the rage out… I was drunk with rage. I was in a bad state. I wasn’t being a good Catholic.  Then…

A Legacy of Love

Love never fails.

"It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."

1 Corinthians 13:7

I've been thinking a lot about who I am as a mother. Am I a good one? Do I do enough? Most of the time I…

The Hardest Blog I Have Ever Written

I know people have been worried but we needed a day to ourselves today. Please be patient as we adjust to what is going on.

Jude has good hours and bad hours. Fortunately last night he had a very good hour. He was very smiley and looked much more like himself. His respiratory and heart rate was still high but he was much better than the day before. Here is a great shot of how he looked and how responsive he was to me. …

What makes him a good dad?

Dads are scrutinised so much more for their parenting efforts because it’s sometimes a rarity to see a father who is fully invested in his child’s life – and that’s just me being honest.  A lot has changed over the years but not much. That’s why there’s still uproar when we see a father pushing a pushchair or taking his child to the park as opposed to mum doing it, because seeing mum doing it is a normal thing. Needless to say there are plenty great fathers out there who are fully committed…

Kids learn by what you do not what you say!

I’m sure we’ve all heard the saying ‘A child will follow by your example not by your advice’....... well, something along those lines anyway. Even if you haven’t heard it, it’s a statement that most of us agree to be true yet so easily forget, and though there is power in the tongue, nothing’s more influencing to a child than what they see you do. For example, if you’re telling a child they must eat up all their veggies because it’s good for them and you’re sat their eating cupcakes and…

Pearls and Yoga Pants

Being a mother, though the most amazing gift in the world is not always the most glamorous! It is messy! The house needs to be cleaned, meals made, laundry done, kids chauffeur, etc. There are no red carpets, no amazing award shows, and no races requiring fancy hats! Let’s just say my son’s Boy Scout Pinewood derby is the fanciest derby I will be attending this year! Haha! So why dress up? Why wear jewelry? Why not just be comfortable? Why…

'Valentines' Pizza

Valentines day is around the corner and with time on our hands, budgets and finding that perfect gift it gets a little stressful to organise! Some people love to dress up and dine out (easy option) but I find it is always so busy. Don't get me wrong it is a lovely treat at times but we can do that any day! This year we decided to stay in and watch a film with some cocktails & chocolate! So what's the plan for dinner? I thought of making a simple, tasty & healthy Pizza. Heart-…

You have nothing in common, the loves suddenly disappeared and your chemistry is as dead as the leaves in autumn. You hardly ever wine and dine each other and showing affection for one another fizzled out way before you could remember. You have kids together and the thought of breaking up your family is something you can’t stand the thought of doing. You know deep down that if you didn’t have kids with this person you wouldn’t even be together.

So you stick it out and paint the face… Continue

This Valentine Is Different

This valentine season, and for the first valentine season ever, I am over-joyed. I know, I know that this is so cliché. Valentine is a hallmark holiday. I’ve always said that, as I googled pubs that have anti-valentine themes and a crowd that wants to be as far away from valentine as possible. I’d sing “all the single ladies” and pop red balloons. I’d go…

The highs and lows of marriage

I like being married. I still get little thrills sometimes when someone refers to me as "Mrs. Markman" or when I get to introduce my husband to people. There is a security in being united to my husband who is not only the love of my life, but my best friend.

He's mine. I'm his. It's nice.…

Ask any pregnant woman and she will tell you that now she’s expecting what once smelled delicious  - like roasting coffee beans for example, has suddenly become the one smell that induces an overwhelming feeling of nausea. For some women the pregnant nose goes into smell overdrive with incredible detection ability, in fact increased smell sensitivity can save lives. Just ask your local gas company – pregnant…

Black Friday – it’s Not Just About Fashion

Fashion, eh? It comes and goes, then comes back around again, at once fleeting and eternal. A style is in one month and then is never heard of again – until it is heard of again, of course.

The quest for fashionable clothes never ends; it’s just that what is in vogue is always changing.…
