Digital Scrapbook Promotion

If your photos are collecting dust and albums are turning yellow, then a digital scrapbook might just be your answer. If you’re getting married, have grand children, raising a young family OR, have important milestones in your life coming up … this will save you so much time and money.

I was approached by a company with an awesome offer for my Girlz Korner readers and just couldn’t pass it up after checking out their phenomenal software. You will be astounded as to its capabilities.…

Celebrating the Holidays Alone

By Rosemary Lichtman, Ph.D. and Phyllis Goldberg, Ph.D.

Are you alone and wondering how you'll be celebrating the holidays this year? Whether you're divorced or widowed, a single parent or the spouse of a deployed serviceperson, it most likely seemed easier when you had a partner to share in the planning. But now that you'll be the one creating the holiday mood, take advantage of the freedom you have to develop customs that are just right for you. …

Happy Heart

It's been almost a year and a half since I became a stay at home mom.  We've had to sacrifice a few things for us to be able to afford living on one income.  In my opinion, it has all been worth it.  Today for example, was one of those days.  Continue

Meal Time Success

Okay, I'm been MIA from my blog. I hope it isn't a case of outta site outta mind with those of you and are following me. I have an excuse though, really. My family has been living out of our suitcases for the past month while we were taking a road trip to our new home. It was a long road trip with stops at both of our families.

Saying Goodbye

It's done!  Everything in our home for the past three years has been packed away in boxes and they're ready for the movers on Monday.  We've been planning this move for almost a year.  It hasn't been smooth or easy or fun, instead this time has been one of the most stressful things I've had to go through in awhile.  With the other moves it was only the two of us.  I didn't have to think of pediatricians, playgroups, day cares, preschools, jobs with reasonable driving distances or any of…

Izzy's Bday - Part 2

I finally have a moment to finish blogging about Izzy's bday. The party was themed after her favorite character, Dora a Explorer. We had Dora plates, napkins, table covers, a wall sized poster, party favors, and Dora episodes playing in the background. I am sure this won't be our only character themed party in the future but it was cute having one for the first time. One of Izzy's godparents, Cindy does professional baking on the side and she's made some amazing cakes and cupcakes. I was so… Continue

Suburban Roller Coaster

As overly cautious as we are about protecting our children these days, it's a wonder any of us survived our own childhoods of yesteryear.  Heck, many of us probably rode home from the hospital on our moms' laps IN THE FRONT SEAT OF THE CAR (without a seat belt, no doubt)!!  All this fragility makes me wonder if our kids are missing out on some of the good…

Sharing Precious Moments

One of my treasured memories growing up, was when I watched National Geographic with my dad. I remember sitting with him as a little girl watching programs about lions, sharks and well, the world. I believe those precious moments impacted the very core of my personality. They taught me to respect the wild and developed my ability to empathize with animals, nature and other people. Continue

Happy Fathers Day - Did You Grow Up Without a Father?

Happy Father's Day! It is a sentiment that I have rarely had a chance to express to my own father. He was in and out of my life for many years and when he was in my life, it felt strange to say it. Happy Father's Day seems like a special statement to be reserved for the most special fathers, you know, the ones who were around to change diapers, wipe tears, give great advice, lecture that boy taking me out on my first date,  and walk me down the aisle during my…

Get Your Green On

Aaaahhhhh, sigh of relief. The forties are now the twenties, the fifties are now the thirties, which makes this new millennium one of new energy, new action, and new commitments. In the past ten years of this new millennium we have each subtracted just as many years from our age! Sigh of relief again here. Whoever thought of this trend and helped it to catch on needs a big high five, a huge piece of cake, and free ice cream for life as a thank you. Now that we each have the opportunity to…

A Christmas Eve Pajama Party

This morning, the Christmas tree lights are unplugged, and it’s just a dark form in the corner of the room. If I touch the needles of the tree, they shatter in my hand. Where presents used to spill out on the floor in abundance, just a carpet of dried needles can be found.
