I am not sure if our son will ever want to go to college. He's a long way off from that day, and by the time he is old enough for higher learning, college may or may not still be seen as necessary for a successful career. Additionally, he has announced that he is building a transporter in our loft, and if that works out I see no reason why he should need college learning for a career. What I am saying is: You never know.…Continue

I know when summer is here it is easy to get caught up in vacation mode, relaxing, and spending more time with family and friends. It is easy to see others posting on social media pictures of where they are visiting and it stirs you to want to go away too. I want to encourage you to stick to your budget even though it is summer time. Stay on track with your financial goals if that…Continue

There are many women who have decided willingly or unwillingly to settle down and have a family. This also means that they put an end to their career lives and have no source of income. They are responsible for taking care of the house and family and have to depend on their husband’s financially. This has caused a lot of stir for the new generation moms who like being financially independent.
Taking care of the house is no doubt, the…Continue

When I meet with people about their budget, many times people think there is no where else they can find money to help pay off debt, or save for a vacation.

I had an amazing time with my family on vacation last week: We had periods of adventurous fun and some downtime to just read and relax. It was a mix of everything to appeal to everyone. Some of our time was spent on paid excursions, and I didn't wonder at any point if they were worth the money: They were all super fun and I loved doing them.…Continue

When my son was in daycare, there would be a moment right before I would leave where he would cling extra tight to me. He wouldn't cry or beg me not to leave - it was just an extra hug that was hard to part from. His teacher would try to help the transition by saying something along the lines of, "Mommy has to go to work and make that toy money."…

It can be tough to balance career and family if you're a young mother. You may have left your current position to become a mom, and are looking for work that will both bring in some money and keep you busy. Fortunately, there are some really awesome ways for moms to make…Continue
I like to listen to my son talk about his plans for the future. They include him working as an engineer in NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab, yet somehow living next door to me so he can help me cook sometimes. These plans also include him being a marine biologist on the weekends.
When he tells me all about his…

Giving birth, whether naturally or by C-section, takes a toll on a woman’s body and sometimes her mind. Having to go back to work within weeks or 3 months of giving birth does not allow a family the time to adapt and bond with their new addition. Unfortunately, in the United States returning to work within 3 months of having a child is the norm and for most families a must. Other families run into the hard situation where both parent’s need to work to support the family, but child care costs…Continue

Each year my spouse and I try to do something a little different for Valentine’s Day. Although our schedules can be hectic with work, the kids’ extracurricular activities, housework, etc.; we strive to make a date night in the midst of madness, particularly for…Continue

“There’s security in bricks and mortar,” my Dad said to me when I was buying my first house, many years ago, and the phrase is still as true today. As was pointed out to me, if you rent forever the place is never your own, and the owner of the property continues to be paid, however the money on a mortgage will decline, and…Continue

Personally, with baby bear at 15m of age I think store bought toys are overrated. Actually, I think they’re almost all pretty much unnecessary.
You see, I keep thinking it’s a great idea to buy all these neat toys for Baby Bear. They will…Continue

I am super glad that I am a woman.
Like most people, I have thought about what life must be like to be the opposite gender (people do think about that, right?) and I have determined that being a guy must be hard. I can't imagine walking around with their equipment all day or having difficulty focusing on…
My son gets a weekly allowance and dutifully puts the money into one of his jars. We've used the money in his Give jar a few times for donations to his school and other causes that he chooses. It's the Save and Spend jars that I am still teaching him to work with.…

Have you ever watched one of those “Extreme” coupon shows and wished you could get your groceries for free as well?
If you're anything like me, you've spent a few Sundays, clipping coupons and trying to match them against your list. Problem is, I get to Kroger and realize my coupons are still on the kitchen counter at home! Or, I bring the coupons, but end up blocking the cereal aisle for 30 minutes trying to find that $1 off…

Hi Readers! I've become obsessed with finding the best deals & freebies available. I'm not talking sample-size freebies either, I'm talking things that are actually worth my time to write about.
I'm sure you've seen them, the ads to sign up for a "free trial" of one product or another. Well, I've done my research and found the best offers out there, that actually do offer a free trial of their products, as well as other too-good-to-pass-up deals.

As parents some of us find it difficult to start saving. Many of us have 401K/403B plans through our jobs so we believe that’s saving or some think how can I possibly save any money, there’s never any left over?!?!?!?!? As parents we need a rainy day fund, especially if you have a children, a car, a house or WHATEVER!!! There will always be a time when the unexpected happens.
I started saving early in life, so I was able to buy my first home at 28 years old. I knew…Continue
