Happy Mother's Day by Silverbird Family

www.HappyMothersDayIsEveryday.com is a youtube video that can be given to any mom. The message says, "I love you mommy" from any child.

People would not exist if it were not for Mother. Even I did not understand why my Mother made such a fuss over me when I was child, but now that I have children of my own, I certainly understand what my Mother went through with me.

This is a wonderful fun calypso reggae style song and once…

How to take kids to a museum

I was quite young when my parents started taking me to different museums and I always enjoyed them. My imagination would start getting wild. I am a firm believer that museums are a great family outing. They are a chance to spend some time together, exploring, learning about the past, present or the future, trying new…

Presenting ~ The WAHM Jobs Page!

Finding legitimate work-at-home jobs is a daunting task. There are SO many sites out there which claim to give opportunities to work-at-home but all they ask for are fees for users to have access to other job boards.

Helping Shape Children’s Expectations

We parents often have high expectations from our children. It is a natural way of thinking because we take pride in giving much of our time and energy in molding their characters.

Just a few weeks ago my children had their 2nd grading final exams. Now in only a few…

Travails of a work-from-home mom

Yes, being a work-from-home mom is not for the faint-hearted. And I’m not even getting started on the bad days when schools are shut, or the children fall ill or the help mysteriously disappear to their gaons (villages) for vague, unexplained reasons. So the next time, someone you know tells you she’s a work-from-home mom, give her an encouraging pat on the back. Even better, take her out for coffee or offer to watch her kids while she takes a luxurious ten minute shower. Trust me,…

All Alone (Part 1)

It's storming outside tonight. Again.

I'm craving sunshine. Yes. This rain-loving, born-in-San-Diegan wants warmth from the sun and natural, bright light.

But, it is still May. One more day anyhow. And another shower can't be bad for the rainforest that surrounds us here. So, I'll just write about last night. When it wasn't raining. When it was surprisingly cold out and the sun was setting beyond the forest's edge.

Grief Has Its Own Timetable

Dear Moms,

After the death of someone we love our grief experience and overall healing has everything to do with our relationship to the deceased, the intensity and depth of the love we felt for them and our degree of faith in a hereafter.  In the immediate aftermath of a person's death, it's hard to breathe and everything hurts. We feel shattered, bewildered and frightened. Sometimes, however, grief shows us its own timetable and can be delayed or complicated.  I experienced a long… Continue

How Disney Brings Out the Liar in Me

I was recently given an amazing opportunity from my friends at Disney Canada to attend the Disney Social Media Moms conference in Orlando. I jumped at the chance – by March, who doesn’t need to get a hit of that happy drug the Big Mouse deals out?

The added bonus was that this conference is a family getaway….well, for a family of four, anyway. Once I got a friend to agree to come…

My Mother's Closet in the Mirror

I always thought I would reach a point in life when I had it all figured out. I would know who I am. I would know what I wanted. I would know what I wanted to be when I grew up.

Psych.

At 47, I still struggle with who I am and what I want to be when I grow up. It’s not that I am jealous of people who seem to have it all figured out. Maybe they really do have it figured out…or maybe they just fake it well. I consider myself a work in progress and imagine I…

The Surprise Baby

People say that I’m brave for having six kids. My take is that it’s nothing compared to those crazy mamas whose kids are out of the baby stage when they go and immerse themselves right back into it. Imagine ditching diaper bags, sleepless nights and poopy bottoms only to return to them several years later. At…
