Many parents wonder when is the perfect time to transition their baby from their crib into a toddler bed or regular bed. As a mom, I can’t give you a perfect answer because each child is different and is ready to move into a regular bed at different ages. You know your child best and can gauge when you… Continue

Many parents work very hard to decorate a nursery for their baby; however, most parents will tell you that their child didn’t sleep in his or her own room for the first few weeks. During those first few weeks most parents choose to keep the baby in their room so that they can easily check on them during the middle of the night. Read the full story at: Uplifting Families…

So it’s March Madness, and even the Nana has a “bracket” that she’s betting on. Well here’s what I’m betting on . . . absolutely losing my mind before March is over!!
A couple months ago, following a particularly in depth round of spring cleaning, Husband from Heaven and I were “casually” looking at new homes. Well, one thing led to another and 60 days later I am now sitting at the kitchen table in our new home. This is also the reason that I have not written in so long. … Continue

You know, the one that magically cleans up all the messes in the house and makes the room put back in order like Mary Poppins?! Oh, that’s right, mommy lives with three leprechauns who on a daily basis turn things upside down, pee in the toilet without flushing and generally leave huge messes in their wake!
Yesterday was St. Patty’s day and we did have a celebration, albeit not as extensive as mommy usually does. We’re in the midst of a major move and THAT little adventure… Continue

It's done! Everything in our home for the past three years has been packed away in boxes and they're ready for the movers on Monday. We've been planning this move for almost a year. It hasn't been smooth or easy or fun, instead this time has been one of the most stressful things I've had to go through in awhile. With the other moves it was only the two of us. I didn't have to think of pediatricians, playgroups, day cares, preschools, jobs with reasonable driving distances or any of… Continue

I finally feel like I'm starting to get things done with this move. The movers will be here on Friday and for the past two weeks I've been going through our house figuring out what's going, what's getting donated or given away and what's going into the trash. So far we've already donated 7 bags full of clothing to goodwill and given away four shelves of books, baby things, furniture and cooking stuff to family and friends. … Continue

I'm haven't had the opportunity to blog in awhile and I missed it. So here I am to tell everyone that I'm still alive. I've written in the past of our pending move and the next thing I know it's here. The movers will be here either Thursday or Friday to start packing our stuff and by Monday our house should be empty.continue

Those who divorce often experience hateful feelings towards their ex at some point, especially if their partners cheated. Obsessing about what happened as it all unraveled, replaying the disappointments, wounding and shocking betrayals–all leading to horrendous feelings of loss and loneliness. They… Continue

The second crucial component to so many people's New Year's resolutions to lose weight seems to involve running out and getting a gym membership and trainer...stat! We regulars annoyingly anticipate the influx of newbies, as they take our usual machine or place in class, because we know most of them won't… Continue

We made it to Pennsylvania...now I just have to learn to spell it. Our first night was not bliss and it didn't really feel like home sweet home. We got in later than we expected (shocking) and when we finally Continue

UPDATE: Dash is coming to Spain!
Dear Potential Servants,
I'm Dash - quite possibly the most remarkable, handsome and unusual cat that you're ever likely to have the privilege of meeting.
But I digress.
I'm writing this because mUm and Dad just confirmed that unless that whiney black fuzz ball… Continue

Whole story here..
Part of becoming a mommy is having to think for someone other than yourself. You have to think what's best for your child, how a decision will affect them now and in the future. I had to make a VERY hard (for both myself and Jaliyah) decision recently, which also contributed to my short absence.
One of the decisions, that I am sure many of us have faced, is whether you and your SO should… Continue

As I sit here and type this entry on this dreary, rainy, humid Tuesday, I'm asking myself how on earth
is it possible that I'm just as tired now as I was before Kevin and I
took our 'stay'cation? Yep! It's been back to the drawing board over
here and today feels like a Monday for me. I'm already pooped! However,
we did have a relaxing, extremely needed weekend to ourselves and it
was so nice to have the weekend for just the two of us. We laid around,

I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend. We had all the kids again this weekend. Hubby and bubba stayed over night at hubby’s parent’s house to go fishing, shoot guns, play video games, and just have fun. Hubby has a much younger brother, so bubba and him are only 4 years apart and love to play Call of Duty (same thing at our house). I play too at home, but I’m not very good. I don’t even… Continue

As you’ll find on my “About Me” page, I’ve pretty much lived in the same area all of my life except for three years that I lived in Southern Hell. I’m not going to go into detail on where that is exactly, but let’s just say its east of the Mississippi River and south of I-40. I had a visitor who lives there over the weekend and we got to talking about it, so I thought I would share my experience… Continue

(Didn't have internet yesterday to plug in this post. So here it is today.)
Having movers pack your stuff is a strange experience. Right now Queenie and I have been pushed to a corner in my bedroom, made to get out of the way. Every time we dare to leave we bump into someone, making us feel in the way and outsiders in our own home. For awhile we were huddled in the kitchen having breakfast on the floor while playing with her choo-choo. it was fine until she saw a… Continue

How can it be so enjoyable to do something so naughtly like eating an entire cake yourself in the course of 3 days? Don't judge me because I'm doing it for good reasons 1. It was in the freezer and we have to eat everything out of the freezer within the next four days or throw it out 2. No one else in my house will eat it as much as I've tried to pursued Queenie to try it 3. It't so freaking yummy that I can't stop!
I went to the gym today and worked out for 40 minutes, so I'm allowed a… Continue

As I am packing my house for our upcoming move, I thought that I would write a small mom's survival guide to packing with kids
250 boxes of different shapes and sizes
10 rolls of duct tape
50 Sunday news papers
5 sharpie markers
100 trash bags
Start in what ever room your kids aren't in at that point in time. Open box, duct tape bottom together. Turn around and grab item that you would like to pack,… Continue

I'm coming out of the storm and some days it feels that way. Today, in my world it is pummeling me with rain and hail (the kind that hurts when it hits you). I know this is temporary and the result of all of the pain and hard times is fantastic. I know I will get through and come out the other side an empowered, strong person who is no longer compromising her ideals, but right now...it just plain hurts and I feel like curling up in a ball for awhile. Here's the think... I WON'T! I'm NOT… Continue
