The NHS has been facing ever-increasing pressures in recent years, with slashed budgets, staff shortages and lack of resources taking its toll on the quality of care. One of the many ways we commonly see the impact of these pressures is in waiting times for GP…
The day you’ve dreamed of for years has finally arrived! Your little girl is all grown up and has chosen a partner to start her life with, and you are officially a MoB -- Mother of the Bride! While congratulatory remarks are appropriate at this juncture, so are a few…
This one is as simple as crowdfunding your honeymoon. It might sound strange at first, but do you really need another blender or set of dinner plates? Instead of having your guests purchase a bunch of things you’ll end up trying to return anyway, why not let them chip in for…
I've always said that when Senia Mae was born she appeared with a poof of glitter. That's not exactly true, it was actually an emergency c-section, but even then it seemed that right after her first bath she was already wearing a tutu. Much to my chagrin, the tutu talk has now flip-flopped into in-depth discussions of bras and makeup.
"Tons of girls in my class are wearing bras," Senia Mae says nonchalantly as we stand next to each other brushing our teeth over the bathroom…

It's been over a month after the birth of my baby and I've managed to lose a bit of weight. My prenatal weight was 57 kg and three days before I put to bed I weighed 74 kg. Now, a month after delivering my baby, I’m just a little over 62 kg. So yay me!
It's well known that mothers who breastfeed burn about 500 calories a day, so its very important to top by eating, albeit eating healthy.…

Years ago, before I wrote my first picture book, I thought that picture books were really easy to write. I figured, well, they are short and how hard can it be to write a short book?
How wrong I was.
First of all, when you are writing a picture book usually you are writing for a younger audience. So you have to use short sentences and simple words.
Secondly, you have to make it interesting. Most picture books are short, so you have to grab their attention and keep it.…

On Friday, while I was out shopping for eggs to color (by myself with no kids!) I decided to pick up a few other items as well. Since it was Easter weekend and Monday night I was going to see my Big Gat Greek Wedding 2, I decided to make Gyros, made with LAMB! My momma made this for dinner a few times when we were living with them while I had my broken leg. When my mom makes this she uses chicken and turkey. When I made it, I used Certified Angus Ground Beef, Ground Lamb, and Chicken.…

I like to eat all types of food. What do you expect? I'm a half Trinidadian, 1/2 Puerto Rican woman who grew up with a Jamaican Stepfather who was a chef. Living in NY I had endless options when it came to food. NY is a Cultural melting pot. I frequented restaurants that served American food, loved Italian food and placed orders often at Chinese restaurants, lol. Man, my mouth is watering just thinking about…

Every weekend my kids want to have company come over. I'm always reminding them that I don't have a built in card in my brain that automatically stores the contact information for everyone I meet, and neither do they, so they need to physically exchange numbers with their friends. Do they? No, but every weekend we seem to have…

When Joshua was between three and five months old, I was walking out of Panera with my Frozen Mocha in one hand, and lugging Joshua in his carrier in the other. I was admiring the energy of a little boy that appeared…

Have you ever slipped and said a tacky word in front of your child? I know that I am guilty of this of accidentally saying something I will regret later or said something that wasn't appropriate for my children to hear. I have always tried to be aware and watch what I say and do in front of them. I want to make sure that my kids aren't picking up bad habits. Believe it or…

I started participating in #ASKAWAYFriday and I have enjoyed it. I love connecting with other bloggers and learning more about them. I wanted to participate in this blog hop because I don’t always share a ton of information about myself. I thought #ASKAWAYFriday was the perfect way for everyone to get to know me on a personal basis. For those who don’t know what #ASKAWAYFriday is, you exchange a set of 10 questions for another blogger to answer. Below are 10 questions that Beth asked me and…

It is difficult to determine how much milk your baby is drinking while on the breast. This causes some moms to become concerned and then they get worried that their baby isn’t getting enough to eat. If your baby is gaining weight and seems satisfied after a feeding session then you…

I didn’t get a chance to watch the VMA award shows on T.V. a few nights ago but I have seen clips of Miley Cyrus’s big performance. As a mom, I am outraged and feel as if this type of content shouldn’t be on prime time television. After all, many families…
