Natural Remedies for PMS

PMS. We are all familiar with it. My boyfriend being the only man in the house of 4 jokingly refers to this as "Pack My Suitcase" time. However, those of us that have experienced it know that it is no joke.

Not all women will experience PMS, but many (about 75%) will experience some of the…

Start Your Tween on the Right Path for Healthy Skin

When I attended MORE magazine’s Reinvention Convention this last June and heard Dr. Will Kirby speak about healthy skin (I wrote about this in an article, Ageless Skin De-Mystified), it had me wonder when I should start teaching my girls about skin care. And,…

Fava Greens and Fava Beans

Sometimes I feel so incredibly small. Swallowed by the sea of information I attempt to swim in each day. The internet does that to me sometimes. Makes me feel even tinier in scope of the big picture.

I'm one of those types of people who keep turning around, mouth agape, ready to try something new that's caught my fancy. And yet, sometimes I don't feel like I'll ever master anything. I love sewing...but don't get around to it often. I love embroidery, but can't remember the last time I… Continue

How to Make Sunshine

Today we rose to a sun that was trying it's darndest to burn through the mist that shrouds the redwoods. It'd peek through momentarily, lighting up the whole living room, and within minutes hide again beyond the mist.

Finally at ten o'clock the…

My Review of Ear Candling

First, I should note that I am by no means an ear candling professional. Just an interested and curious young woman who is sharing her experience with it here.

Now I must admit, I laughed the first time I saw 'ear candling' in a natural health catalog. It reminded me of other super-essentials… Continue

Natural Weed Killer To Keep Your Lawn Healthy

Avoid harmful chemicals by using Natural Weed Killer. Stop worrying about your children and pets playing in the yard because of pesticides.

Pesticides are harmful to people, animals and the environment.  Using pesticides can actually kill soil organisms that contribute to a healthy lawn.  If you have been using harsh chemicals to keep your lawn beautiful it can take a few years for the soil to recover.

Full Circle Home - Eco Style Function

In honor of Earth Day (tomorrow!) we thought that we would highlight a green company that – to us – exemplifies what an environmentally-friendly consumer product manufacturing company should be.

That would be Full Circle, a company that produces green lifestyle tools that are stylishly designed,…

Our Chicks are Here!

Chickens were a fleeting dream I had a few years ago.

We were living in Berkeley, California, a full-blown suburban city, when we first began our new phase of life with kids. We lived in a little flat there near the highway. My husband rode his skate board to work and I walked E-V-E-R-Y-W-H-E-R-E. (Oh do I miss those parks. There were green, grassy parks and playgrounds literally every 6 blocks there.) And my natural-outdoorsy minded self simply dreamed of a little bit of land to care… Continue

Get Your Green On

Aaaahhhhh, sigh of relief. The forties are now the twenties, the fifties are now the thirties, which makes this new millennium one of new energy, new action, and new commitments. In the past ten years of this new millennium we have each subtracted just as many years from our age! Sigh of relief again here. Whoever thought of this trend and helped it to catch on needs a big high five, a huge piece of cake, and free ice cream for life as a thank you. Now that we each have the opportunity to…

Day 2 of my first craft show

So Mom and I show up again on Sunday morning. I'm anxious and wondering if I will sell more today....and I'm guessing all the other vendors are wondering the same thing. Since I managed to make enough on Saturday to pay for my booth I'm not as obsessed today with calculations, mostly just optimistic and excited. Continue Reading

Egg Yolk Facial Anyone?

Okay so let me start off with this warning: This facial is a little messy, and my egg yolk covered face is more than a little comical.  Enjoy looking at my enlarged pores, and blemish filled face, knowing full well that your skin is probably way better than mine.

PRE FACIAL FACE:…

Where are all the people?

So it is day 1 of my very first craft show and my booth is all set up....only 15 minutes past start time. A few people start walking by and looking at my items. It takes awhile before my mom and I realize these are all fellow vendors. Hmmm....will people who came here to MAKE money SPEND money too? Well, if they're anything like us, it's a definite YES. My mom is already scoping it out, Continue…

Childbirth, Smart and Sexy

“Wait a minute!” you may be thinking. Childbirth is scary with lots of drama and pain! How could it possibly be “smart” and “sexy”?  That’s just crazy, right?

Wrong. Let’s look at some facts about a woman’s body that enables her and for most women, to have a baby in the first place.

After a woman conceives through the old fashioned way (sex) or by Invetro fertilization (IVF), the embryo implants on the uterine wall and begins to grow. It is totally in the…

How are you? I don't know what the weather is like where you are, but here in New Jersey there is so much snow! I am enjoying it too - it's so pretty. My son and I had a wonderful and fun snow fight while we were shoveling the driveway - a great way to connect with…

Healthy Changes in Our Home: Raw Honey, Gluten-Free Foods, and Natural Skin Care

I wanted to mention a few things I have changed in our home: I started to use raw honey, gluten-free products, and non-toxic, natural sunblock and deodorant.

Raw honey:

After learning about the amazing properties of raw, local honey, that’s all I use now for my tea and when one of us has a soar throat. Honey has been proven to work just as well as cough medicine, so I always have it in the house.

Dog Wellness - Left Over Turkey Treats

Of all the meats available for consumption turkey is the healthiest of them all - mainly because it is lower in fat. What a great treat it is for us and our dogs when we get to enjoy turkey left overs for the entire week or longer. Grab hold of a healthy snack for your dog and at the same time envelope dog wellness practices by making his treats at home instead of store bought - for a… Continue
