Women Make Better CEOs...Just Ask Mr. Wonderful

Women make better CEOs.
At least they do to Kevin O'Leary, the shrewd and calculating entrepreneur of ABC's Shark Tank. But this isn't conjecture; he's got numbers to prove it.
According to Mr. Wonderful, female-run companies offer him greater returns on his investments and quicker exits.
“If I want high returns with low volatility, that equals a woman.” You heard it here, folks.

Stop Hounding Me With Buy Links!!!!

People want to buy but they don’t WANT TO BE SOLD!

I love that quote. It’s so true. How many times do you go into a store, greeted by eager-beaver salespeople asking if they can help you find something to buy?

I could never be in sales…

But alas, I AM.

I’m an indie author. Not only do I write, but I also market and SELL.

Like with most businesses, the market is pretty much saturated with books. You name it, there’s a genre out there. And about a trillion…

Linkedin is NOT a dating service: Rumblings of a married social networker

I currently run a Facebook account, Facebook page, two Instagram accounts, two Twitter accounts, and am on Linkedin… I opted out of installing Facebook messenger on my new I Phone, but did buy a new I Pad mini to keep all of my Not Skinny Not Rich social networks separate from my personal.  I signed up for Hootsuite, but at the moment I'm too overwhelmed to figure out how to use it.  Oh, and I almost forgot, I reluctantly signed up for Pintrest about a month ago.  NONE of these social…

Spring into Networking in the Real World and Online

It is wonderful to network by using contacts you have met only on-line as well as those from the real world. The world is getting smaller and smaller as technology enables us to meet people from around the world on-line and travel gets easier and easier in the real world. As we meet more and more people with whom we would like to maintain relationships, networking becomes increasingly important.…

Do Women Need to Think Like Men to Succeed in Business?

In a recent conversation with a friend who is CEO of a construction company, I explained how doing business with the government could potentially take her business to the next level. She shared her frustration at responding to RFP (request for proposal). She had bid on many over the years and each time, they were awarded to the same male…

Playing on Facebook Can Get You a Job

Playing on Facebook can get you a job - I'm not talking about Farmville, though I'm sure there must be something for which those skills can be used.  While Facebook is thought of by many as a way to pass the time, the social network has broad business applications if you use it right.  And it's only one of many networking, aggregating, blogging and mini-blogging sites out there, all of which can be used to pad your resume.…

Social Media and Moms - An Introduction

Social media has revolutionized what it means to be a mother.  Sure, the basics of mothering remain the same throughout the ages, but with all the information of the internet at our fingertips, new theories catch steam quickly, unsafe practices are brought to light in front of large audiences, and people can pick and choose which parenting methods work best for them in real time, as these methods are being used and tested by others.

One of the largest drawbacks to staying at home…

New Social Media Site that Pays You to Refer

I've been social networking now for a few years and consider myself pretty "hard core." I check FB daily as well as share pics and/or videos, and on a regular basis I add  comments to the crazy things that my friends post. Some are true classics! In recent days, I've become more and more concerned about what I read about…

Ask any pregnant woman and she will tell you that now she’s expecting what once smelled delicious  - like roasting coffee beans for example, has suddenly become the one smell that induces an overwhelming feeling of nausea. For some women the pregnant nose goes into smell overdrive with incredible detection ability, in fact increased smell sensitivity can save lives. Just ask your local gas company – pregnant…

Black Friday – it’s Not Just About Fashion

Fashion, eh? It comes and goes, then comes back around again, at once fleeting and eternal. A style is in one month and then is never heard of again – until it is heard of again, of course.

The quest for fashionable clothes never ends; it’s just that what is in vogue is always changing.…
