A new year is like a crisp, clean, white piece of paper. It has potential. It has hope. It has promise. Anything can happen. And unlike birthdays when we look back in despair, on New Year’s Day we look forward in…Continue

Despite the fact I don’t really make New Year resolutions, there is something fresh about a new year. It’s almost as if the weight and worries of last year have been removed from my shoulders. Like most people, I would like to lose weight, exercise more, spend more time meditating, and make more time with my husband, but why is it we think about all of these things all at…Continue

I thought I'd bring in the New Year with a video of my baby's life from
the day she was born (December 9th, 2009) up until now. I worked my ass
off on it. Did you know that she's been alive for three years even
though she's only just turned one? This was the super nerdy fact my
husband presented to me this morning.
Right before I informed him that I had saved our marriage.
Let me explain.
Instead of sex…

When 2000 began, I was a newlywed, barely 20-year-old, rose-colored glasses wearing ass-clown. I had no idea what being a true adult was like, but,…Continue

Each year, as the calendar turns from December to January, greeting a new year and leaving one behind, millions of people make "New Year's Resolutions". Typically, they resolve to improve themselves or their lives in some fashion. Popular themes for resolutions include health (losing weight, exercising more, drinking less, quitting smoking), finances (spending less, saving more, developing and/or sticking to a budget, changing careers), and organization (better time management, minimizing…Continue

I know, I know.... Who still makes New Years Resolutions and actually takes them seriously?
Well, in my attempt, no, "journey" is a better term... In my journey to find and maintain my recently distant, pre-parenthood sanity, I have made a firm commitment to develop and succeed in my New Years Resolutions...
This is a big deal... This is the first time, ever, that I have made a decision to develop a New Years Resolution and seriously commit to it. In the past, I simply made…

Have any of you heard of the "Right Brain Business Plan" by Jennifer Lee? It seems that she was the first thing that I came across when I put the energy out into the universe that I needed help and direction to stay on course with my current goal of opening a place in Grand Rapids. I love her message. It's almost as if it was designed for me.…Continue

Jay blew into our lives like a whirl wind. He was my cousin’s fiancé’s cousin (kinda confusing, I know) and we met because my cousin lived in the apartment upstairs from me.
We started talking slowly – my car got stuck in the snow a few times and he would come down and get me out.
Then we started actually hanging out, and the first time he came over, we talked nonstop for 4 hours! It was great. I was actually happy when I was with him, and I felt so…Continue

My little guy started teething and its the worst thing in the world. I dont know what to do sometimes and he gets so antsy cause I cant help him. I have tried orajel, teething rings and at times they work but
other times he just gets mad and goes on his marry way. He is so cute!
I guess its something we all have to go through and to be honest I am glad I am home to be able to take care of him and help him through this.
He is a true blessing in my life and I am blessed to he…

After being out of work, and living on one income plus a small amount of unemployment, we decided that I needed to go back to work. Violet was older, she was more adjusted and a little less clingy. We decided to
give it a try - again.

When I was younger, I never thought that I would be a stay-at-home mom. I had thought that I would finish school, work for a while, get married and then have kids. I guess I never really gave much thought to
what would happen after I had my children, but I also don’t think that it
would’ve mattered because from what I have learned, nothing is like it seems on
Leading up to having my daughter,…Continue
