What a weird beginning to 2010. I'm so blah. . not feeling like I've shed the grief of 2009 and accepted all the new opportunities that are awaiting in 2010. Right now, I'm really just fakin' it 'til I make it.
As I always do, I started my list of New Years Resolutions. I do not remember anymore what #1 was, but #2 was to spend more time with my Dad. "More Time" as opposed to seeing him twice a year despite his constant pleas for more time. Arrrrrrrrgh. .…

Hi everyone! You might be wondering why I’m out of the mainstream (bloghopping scene) for a while. This is because I’m moving out of my old address penname30.blogspot.com
and currently working on a new platform with the help of Onlinemommy. I’ve shifted from Blogger to Wordpress as part of acquiring a new domain name and site name.
I’m introducing Pen, paper and pan… Continue

Since the 5th grade, when I'm approached by a boy I like I get all nervous. I start wondering, "What if he doesn't REALLY like me?", "What if he likes me today, but likes someone more tomorrow?" What if? What if? What if?
I reveal the insecurities all single women feel when entering a new relationship. Hey, why not? I'm hoping someone will read it, and determine that what they feel is valid, and real, and normal. Then, we can all chill-ax and enjoy the journey we've been… Continue

I have this friend Steve who was recently on a flight. Across the aisle was a new mama with her babe and a very elderly man, who from here on in shall be called ‘old dude’.
As the airplane was taking off, mama started breastfeeding babe. As any travelling mama knows, it’s good if you can get babe to feed on the way up and the way down to relieve any ear pain due to changing air pressure.
As she is feeding, old dude is shuffling around, mumbling under his breath, clearing… Continue

I expected that having a baby would add new challenges to being married. So, I am not surprised that there are moments when I'd like to kill my husband and, I'm positive, vice versa. I decided to write this post after a disagreement on the weekend about the difference in our lives right now, and by lives I mean having a life vs. not having one.
What am I bitter about? Well for starters, how about the fact that pregnancy turned my body into a never-ending project? I have to lose… Continue

Just wanted to say to all the moms with children going back to school this week congratulations! Some of us have been looking foward to this day for a while but when it's finally here we feel somewhat sad. My oldest did not want me to drive him but he wanted to take the bus instead. I have been taking him to school on the first day for the past 5 years and now he is so independant. I think he saw my sadness because now he has changed his mind and I will be taking him. He made my day! To all the… Continue

Argh – I have been offline intermittently for the past 2 weeks. My family and I are in South Haven Michigan on Lake Michigan for several weeks. Until this summer we had only dial-up Internet, which was simply torture. Although we are on the lakefront and near a good size community, our immediate area is very rural. It takes 10 minutes off the main road onto a windy dirt road to get all the way out to us.
In years past we had no phone machine, no fax machine and minimal connectivity,… Continue

Thanks for all the welcome messages. I've been looking around the site a bit and I'm looking forward to visiting lots of blogs to see what everyone is up to. I haven't posted much because I'm in the process of changing my blog. I'm launching a new Blogger blog, which is under design right now and I am also working on launching a new Wordpress blog on a different topic. My current blog is Wordpress but I think it will be fun to use both platforms.
So, I look forward to being much more… Continue

I went dark for a few days. I was visiting a few friends who recently had babies or are pregnant. The crew is starting to to get bigger! Travelling a few hours in a car with an 11 month old is an experience. Under the circumstances, CE was wonderful, but I was freakin exhausted by the time I got home. Bag of clothes, bag of food, bag of toys, pack and play, portable high chair. Lugging all that shit in and out of my car was manual labor. I crashed as soon as I got home. It was great to see the… Continue

Well the Biggest Loser is.....Helen! It's great that an older woman won because she is a good example that it's never too late to start taking care of yourself. I felt really bad for Tara though. She was only 5 or 6 pounds from beating Helen. She looked so defeated. I cannot believe they dragged that shit out for 3 hours though. I had no idea it was going to be that long! I had to switch over to the Real Housewives at 10pm and switch back during commercials to see who won. It's called… Continue

It's hard to believe that it's Saturday evening already. This day has flown by and to be honest, I'm still in my PJs! I woke up at about 5am wide awake... go figure. On the days I can sleep in, I don't. On the days I can't sleep in... I could sleep till 10! Oh well. I started blogging at about 6:30am. Finally finished my post around 8am. Don't know why the TummyTub

“Poppies, Poppies will put them to sleep. Sleep. Now they’ll sleep.”
----The Wicked Witch of the East
It’s spring and in Southern California that means the poppies are sprouting alongside the freeways and medians, their bright orange flowers are gorgeous eye candy as we dash from one thing to the next. It was a field of poppies that almost kept Dorothy from reaching Emerald City. Caught up in their beauty, Dorothy runs through them, encouraging her friends to come along, distracted by… Continue
