1. Have a picnic. Is it too cold outside? Just lay a blanket out on the living room floor.

You can find serenity in learning that it can be really fun to create a family game. In most areas around the country, the new school year has either started or is about to start. At the same time, many families enjoyed the closeness and fun of the bonding and fun of summer vacation. One way to keep the fun going throughout the school year is to create a family game.
The great thing about a family game is that you do…Continue

I swear it wasn't that long ago that my kids wanted to do EVERYTHING with me. But lately, I'm starting to realize that maybe I'm not quite as cool as I once thought I was. (*What the hell?!!*) Fifth grade is bringing on a whole new desire for independence, and friends are…Continue

** Apparently, hormones, cramps, and child birth weren't enough, so we have night sweats to add to all the fun.
** Goatdog likes Mammaw so much that he wants to eat her.…Continue

I am looking forward to my date on Friday and Saturday with my husband. We are planning on going away overnight so that we can spend some quality time with each other without any distractions. We feel that is it very important to invest time into our marriage and take the time to remember why we fell in…Continue

Our schedule has been insane this week and the only down-time we’ve had is nap-time. The rest of the day; morning, afternoon and evening has been filled with pre-school, kids play-dates/Christmas parties, a company Christmas party and a few other night time events too! Brian said to me last night,
“How about a movie night and early bed-time on Friday?“
I will never turn that down; sounds perfect! I declined an invite to a Cookie Exchange…Continue

Each Sunday throughout the month of September I will be exploring ways to find serenity in one hour or less. This week, I am finding serenity in Quick Date Night with my husband.

My child knows that every night she has to go to sleep in her bed. If she wakes up in the middle of the night from a nightmare she can climb into mommy's bed for some cuddling and to chase away the monsters. Most nights when the bed routine starts she asks nonstop to sleep in mommy's bed. Well, she doesn't say it in a full sentence she just repeats "mommy's bed?" over and over and over again. On rare occasions when I just want her to fall asleep right away or I want some extra cuddling…Continue

This past weekend, some girlfriends and I had organized a fun night out in downtown Chicago. No husbands, no kids, just us girls kickin' it in the city. Unfortunately, though, our whole night was planned around a godforsaken musical that we'd bought tickets to see on LivingSocial. It was called, "Girls Night: The Musical" and promised to be a super fun mix of…Continue

I was looking through my blog a few weeks ago and I realized that I was a way better mom before I had three kids.
I've heard it from a lot of mommies. Two is doable, manageable, one-on-one team formations. Three? Three throws you over the edge. I have heard though that if you can get to three and survive, then four, five, six, and so on, are no big deal. Just throw 'em on the pile! (Not that I will be testing out that theory. Rest assured, I will…Continue
