I just wanted to write a little about my daughter who was having trouble making friends at school. I know there are other parents that might be concerned about their kids and their friends...or lack there of.
My daughter is in kindergarten and as far as I knew, she was outgoing and had friends in preschool. I knew elementary school would be different and I was right. The first week of school I stalked my baby from my car after dropping her off. What? My first born was in regular… Continue

Do you ever feel, that as the centrifugal force of the house, that mommy’s mood sets the tone for the the whole family? This Blog post came to me a couple of weeks ago, when my girlfriend said, “Can you Blog
about how when we are not good, the rest of our family never feels good?
And how we can pull ourselves out of these slumps?”
So really, what happens if mom’s not happy?…

Where is My Emergency Shoot? 8-2010
I have never understood why parenting isn’t in the “let-me-dump-on-you-service business” category. Certainly parents reach the end the their rope, put up with insults, rude behavior, monumental stress, Continue
disrespect, back talk, humiliation, a complete lack of appreciation for the
non-stop hours that goes into parenting, constant demands, being taken for
granted, as in “you’re the mom and I can treat you anyway I want. It’s not…

Recently we had some powerful storms rip through the area, causing widespread blackouts. Contrary to popular belief, losing electricity isn’t all that bad. Depending on how long it’s lost for, of course!
Some of the "upsides" to going without power I found were:
- Having an excellent excuse to make a meal out of ice cream.
- Enjoying all the candlelight
- Not feeling the need to check my social networking sites/emails/etc because I…

Jaliyah's daddy has been staying with us. About 2 days ago we were
argument about him not getting up with
Jaliyah in the middle of the night on his days off. I have only slept
about 6 hours in the past 3 days so I was
talked about it for awhile and he said he understood blah blah,
So then the night comes and Jaliyah… Continue

To celebrate our 10th Wedding Anniversary my husband and I took our first vacation ever without the kids. A three night getaway where Disney's exciting shopping and dining was our main focus. We chose to get the deluxe dining plan, and for $80 per person we were treated to three table service credits a day. On on special night we decided to splurge and spend two credits… Continue

I was reading San Diego Momma's blog this morning and her post really resonated with me and got me thinking. (Thank you, Deb for inspiring my post today).
Deb's blog was about boundaries and not being able to set them. Not being able to say no. She also wrote about the inability to stand up for herself when a man had gone too far. This is the part that… Continue

Have you ever been told you have a bad attitude? I have. While I was not sure if the person’s assessment of me was correct—I’d never been told that—I did take some time to ponder over the criticism.
What causes one to have a bad attitude? Can it be fixed? How can I guarantee that I will always project a good attitude?
What I found is that there are a myriad of things which causes us to have poor attitudes: the lack of money, too much… Continue

We have all be there before. Someone asks us to volunteer for something that we have no time to do or have no knowledge about but, we say yes anyway. PTA's are notorious for this. Trust me, I know. They never lose a phone number.
The problems begin when something has to give because the day is only 24 hours long. Either your family gets neglected and you hear about it or you do a crappy job and everyone else thinks you're incompetent.
What do you… Continue

After Friday there’s going to be a new revised Elle. I’m having a lower eyelid revision and I have my wonderful Graves disease to thank for it. I’m kind of freaked out because I’m going to be awake for it. I don’t know how I’ll feel as that needle gets close to my eyes, Yikes! At least my insurance will pay for it. That was a big surprise. I figured they’d say no and then I wouldn’t actually have to go through with it. So it’s now or never. I didn’t think I’d be getting plastic surgery on my… Continue
