In Seasons of Empowerment for Adolescent Girls, Ms. Roth argues that there are four seasons of empowerment for adolescent girls. Sadly no adolescent girl can simply wake up one day, snap her fingers, and be empowered to tackle the world and all the forces that exist inside and outside. Becoming empowered to be who we are can be truly difficult. This book consists of a step-by-step guide to help adolescent girls achieve self-improvement.…Continue

Here's just one more reason why Robert Downy Jr. stands strong at the top of my "list." <3
Microsoft's social media campaign, The Collective Project, celebrates students using technology to change the world. How better than to give young children use of their limbs back using 3D print technology? That's exactly what Limitless Technology does. The volunteer group started by a University of Central Florida engineering PhD student recently constructed a special "Iron Man" arm for a…Continue

Pour the 1/2 cup of warm water into the glue. You can use less. This is where it gets fun to play around with the amounts and how it changes the consistency. Keep the conversation, and laughs going with the kids.
Once the water is in, you can now add the Borax solution. You can see in the picture below, it immediately starts blobbing. Colin was not all for putting his hands in…Continue

Being a mother, though the most amazing gift in the world is not always the most glamorous! It is messy! The house needs to be cleaned, meals made, laundry done, kids chauffeur, etc. There are no red carpets, no amazing award shows, and no races requiring fancy hats! Let’s just say my son’s Boy Scout Pinewood derby is the fanciest derby I will be attending this year! Haha! So why dress up? Why wear jewelry? Why not just be comfortable? Why…Continue
My initial reaction as I began to read Shadow of the Hawk was that the writing was fluid and graceful. The feel, mood and era all reminded me of John Steinbeck and I was hooked from the very start.
Sooze is a 16 year old girl growing up in the Great Depression. She has agreed to marry a man she does not love in order to save her family. She is mature for her age and you immediately feel for her. Her character is equal parts young lady and woman and the author does such…

The writing is graceful and artistic. It’s fluid and organized in through and action. When I first started reading it I thought of my love for John Steinbeck and Grapes of Wrath. You get that feel of what the Great Depression was like and how families responded to it, and to each other. You feel the desperation and admire the courage and integrity of many of the people of that time.
This story is about a young girl in her teens who considers marrying a man for the…

You've all seen the movie trailer but have you caught...the Lego version????
I eat, sleep, breathe and step all over Legos on a DAILY!! I need to wear slippers to protect my feet from those tiny plastic pieces which have drawn blood more than a couple of times.
Then I came upon this trailer and thought it'd be apropos to share with you all, you know, since I'm a romance author as well as a mom to a bunch of little Lego master builders. =)

I have really been in a funk lately. My mind has been a whirlwind of emotions & thoughts. Ever since my youngest, my baby, turned 4years old I have been giving myself a hard time. I feel this pressure, entirely from myself, but pressure no less, to work. Not that I don’t work now, in fact I feel like this is the hardest I have ever worked in my life! My husband and I are a bit old school. He works outside the home. I do all the household chores, all things clothes and food…Continue

What I absolutely adore most about this experience is how many people said they were going to pay it forward. And the fact that when I logged onto Facebook that night a friend had said that someone paid for her coffee and she…Continue

By Shelly Aristizabal

In November of 2011, a Georgia Appellate Court upheld the decision of a lower court on a case in which a man was nearly held liable for a crash that involved his car but while he was not in it. A thief sped off in his vehicle from his driveway, but not before the man noticed and started out after him in another car. His wife called the police while he chased his stolen car down the road. He…Continue
