My son is in time out.

He is in time out for many reasons which include (but are not limited to), talking back to me, not following directions, yelling and breaking household rules. He may or may not also be in time out because I need a short break from him, as he is having a bad day and driving me crazy and…

The Secret to Surviving (Enjoying) Housework

Heaps of intermingled clean and dirty laundry in every bedroom volcanically erupted by another continental clothing drift. Unclean dishes flowing like lava out of the sink onto counters. Meal remnants littered like ash across the kitchen floor, family room, foyer, playroom, and “fill-in-the-blank”.…

ISSUES

I hope that all of you had a wonderful Christmas. It was a great day that I  was able to spend with my 3 favorite guys (husband, and 2 sons). The 24th on the other hand was a little rough to say the least. Here’s why. On the 23rd, I had to have a dental procedure on one of my front teeth. So, the dentist had to give me several shots of a local anesthetic (some type of novacaine) to numb the area. Later that evening, I said to my husband that it looked like my top lip…

Mom Tantrums | w/ Full Metal Mommy Chrissy Howe | MomCave LIVE Ep 51

Mom Tantrums. Yeah, it’s a thing. In the battlefield of parenthood, do you ever look around and think, “Who made ME the adult around here?”  I wanted to lose it just about every day this week. But for the most part, I reigned it in. On several occasions, I had elaborate fantasies of how I’d like to lose it and what I’d do.

On our next episode of MomCave LIVE,…

Science says this is how you should discipline your children

Every household has a different approach on discipline, as most parents have to learn their child's personality before they can determine a policy that is effective. For us, we recognize that our son likes to talk, so we give him timeouts during which he is not allowed to talk. It may feel unfair to him, but it gets his attention and gives us a break from any unacceptable behavior.…

Top Ten Reasons Why Cookie Exchanges are THE WORST!!

Now, as most of y’all know I am often called a Pollyanna thanks to my glass is half full positive outlook on life. However there is one thing in this world that quickly turns this Pollyanna into a Negative Nelly and that is a good old-fashioned cookie exchange!  Shocking, but true! I have participated in my fair share and even organized a few and let me tell you, now I understand what they mean by a labor of love. Except for in this case, unlike actual labor where you totally forget…

A Mother's Day Reminder: Reflect and Relax

I have heard from so many moms lately about how stressed and worn out they all are.  One of them would be me.  We can all relate to the ever popular, “If only there was one more hour to the day” and the, “I just can’t get it all done” slogans.

Gerald-G-Busy-Mom

Most days we feel like we are drowning.  Some days we get thrown a life preserver, some days we just don’t have it in us to fight anymore, and other days we have the strength to get our head above water and actually swim to…

CAP Barbell Deluxe Bench with 100 Pound Weight Set Review

I've been looking for a sturdy weight bench for my husband but one in my budget that can still give us the features we need. I was seriously considering Gold's Gym XRS 20 Olympic Workout Bench (still considering it), but I would have to buy the bar and weight plates separate which I didn't want do. I came across the CAP set (currently under $100), which wouldn't take up as much space, which means I wouldn't have to get rid of…

Conversation with my son

Every weekend my kids want to have company come over. I'm always reminding them that I don't have a built in card in my brain that automatically stores the contact information for everyone I meet, and neither do they, so they need to physically exchange numbers with their friends. Do they? No, but every weekend we seem to have…
