Everglades Holiday Park Experience (Home of the Gator Boys!)

I was as excited as my husband and kids, anticipating this trip. When we got to the park, everything went smoothly. We picked up our tickets and went to the covered area waiting for our ticket number to be called for the airboat tour. There were a lot of people there, but the wait for the airboat tour was only about 10 minutes.

I know from seeing…

Things I've Learned This Week

** School REALLY needs to start.  Cause my patience has left the building.

** The smell of an amusement park is a compilation of B.O., grease, and ass.

** I'm not…

Today Was a Perfect Day to Take the Kids to the Park

Today was a perfect day to spend some time outside with the kids.  This was a fun post for me to write today as I wanted to share a few photos of my family spending time together playing.  The weather here was in the 80's which is perfect for spending time outside without it being too hot for the kids to play.  To see photos of our fun time at the park please visit, my blog at…

Our No-Media Family Vacation (Complete with campfire recipe!)

Last week, we took our official annual family camping trip. Each summer, we take one trip to a California State Park that I deem “official”because it is with kids and without cell phones, laptops, or iPods. The only media we allow are cameras and Kindles (for capturing memories, and because we can keep all our books in one place). What I discovered on this trip was that three days of no Facebook updates, no check-ins, no Tweets and no notifications can actually be…

10 Fun Summer Activities to Enjoy with Your Kids in NC

If your kids aren't headed off to summer camp this year, you might be stumped as to what to possibly do to keep them entertained and keep you sane. And unfortunately where I live, fun, cultural and educational activities are rare jewels, so we typically have to venture off at least an hour to enjoy ourselves. But don't be discouraged if you live in Small Town, NC like me; North Carolina is chock full of other destinations that are well worth the travel time. I've…

Things I've Learned This Year (A Recap of the Best of 2011)

** My son likes to make his penis talk.  (Don't ask.)

** The entire household turns into assholes when my husband goes out of town.

** My kids wait to take a dump until it's time to walk out the door.

** This ass isn't gonna run itself off.

** You can never ever hug your kids too much.

** When life hands you…

Dog park politics? But ... I don't speak dog

I've never had anyone reject an apology before. Oh, I've had people accept apologies in pretty non-graceful ways, and I've had folks tell me that yes, I certainly should be apologizing to them. But I've never had anyone simply say nothing and walk away.

I have to say I think that's rather bad form. Because it all started with a dog. My dog, of course, my mutly misbehaving dog.

I'd decided to be brave and take him to the local dog park by myself. Well, okay, I was with my daughter,…

The Water Park Souvenir

If you've ever wondered where all the germs go to party, I'm pretty sure I figured out their favorite stomping ground.  Just visit any given water park, and you'll surely find a whole gaggle of germ dudes and germ dudettes gettin' their freak on.  How do I know this?  Cause my family just spent this past weekend at one, and I've got the mental scars (and the super sexy fever…

Things I've Learned This Week

** Cruise control scares the shit out of me.

** When you travel with kids, it's a trip.  When you travel without them, it's a vacation.

** 99.9% of the water at water parks is a combination of urine and ick.  Probably.

** Trying to get your kids to sleep at a water park is like trying to get a nun to pole…

Concert in the Park Picnic

It is that time again when the Concert in the Park season begins. In our town, they are held every Sunday afternoon during the summer months. This is a time when we see all the families from this community come together to listen to some great music; everything from from Reggae to Top 40 Hits to Classical and Country. As the children play on the playground,  we spread out our blankets and open our picnic baskets to enjoy a little wine and nosh, as we sit…

People of Our Park-Exhibit 1

ughgmmgmdmdofuh....

That's what I feel like doing as I think about how my day went.  It was never ending, or so it seemed.

The littles were in full on crazy mode, Rian was not wanting to nap or be put down, and Levi was having a hard time with me paying so much attention to her.  I wasn't even able to follow through with my plan to hand make Justin's Valentine's Day card.

I wanted so badly to go to the store and pick up something special for my man, but…

Guilty Pleasure Heat for an Arctic Monday

How cold was it this morning when I left my house? 2 degrees Fahrenheit. 2! How cold is that really? Well take a look at this snapshot of the Bryant Park fountain which was freezing over from the arctic chill.

Well, we definitely have to generate some heat to combat that arctic chill and what better way than with a nice hot Guilty Pleasure? But with it being so cold, we need a man who can heat us up in the kitchen as well with something so delectable we'll be… Continue

An Afternoon at the Park

So today J was getting on my last nerve. On top of crawling on top of everything and screaming, he decided Daddy's desk was his play area and no matter how many times I pulled him off the desk and swatted his tushy telling… Continue
