Construction Themed Birthday Party

http://www.thepiggytoes.com/2012/11/13/construction-birthday-party-for-roman/

As a mom of 2 boys, I’ve put together 2 construction parties to date!  The first party was for Rocco’s 1st birthday and it was a huge bash with family & friends from near and far.  The second construction party was for Roman’s 3rd birthday and it was a much smaller…

Things I've Learned This Week

** Parking garages continue to both piss me off and freak me out.

** Men are by far THE biggest babies when they're sick.

** Taking a shower is really just a whole lotta work.

** My house looks like we had a major party here.  Which would be awesome if we'd had a major party here.

** Auto-pilot is a…

Things I've Learned This Week

** Summer really needs a speeding ticket.

** Inspirational quotes do nothing but piss me off when I'm in a crabby mood.

** The Olympics have evidently convinced my kids that there's a vault in our second floor hallway.  (And I assure you there is not.)

** My brain has a serious case of the farts lately.

** The top of…

The (Pregnant) Procrastinator's Guide to Throwing Your Child's First Birthday Party

I am a recovering Pinterest addict. When I first joined the site, I went on pinning rampages (winter in Utah w/ a 6 month old-- what else was I to do?). I ended up with over 3000 pins within a few months, which is maybe, kind-of, I concede, a little excessive. Now I have cut back to 20-30 pins and max 30 minutes a week, I swear, husband. But one of those lovely time-wasting afternoons was spend on Isla's first birthday party. It has to be big! It has to be cute! It has to be…

Angry Birds

Ok, so I finally am caught up in the Angry Bird madness.  My husband and son have been playing for months, then my youngest joined them, and now I am hooked.  What is it about those crazy birds?  My oldest has already decided that his birthday party will have an Angry Bird theme, and is wanting some kind of cake with the birds and pigs.  Yea right.  I'll get right on that.  Because I sew and don't bake, I could have a problem.  But I did make these cute party favor masks that have been a…

The Aftermath of the Sleepover

My kids are getting to that dreaded age where every flippin' weekend they beg for a sleepover.  As soon as school gets out on Friday, they start hittin' me up for a party in their pj's.  And I don't know about you, but I am not a big fan of the sleepover, mainly because it ends up biting ME in the ass the next day.

Now my son is not really the issue, since he…

Jolly Juice

The other day I sent out a tweet that could quite possibly be misconstrued as naughty by nature -- I said something to the effect of "My husband's Jolly Juice is a-flowing".  Now many of you may have thought that this was some sort of sexual reference (cause let's be honest, usually it is), but surprisingly, this time, it was actually a very innocent comment referring to a new cocktail recipe that I found recently and somehow persuaded my husband to whip up for our friends and…

My First Halloween cake!

My First Fondant Halloween Cake!

I was browsing around the Internet for some cool Halloween cakes. I came across one that I loved and did not totally copy it but did use it as a pattern. I wish I remembered what blog it was from because I would give them credit for the idea. I have searched Google and few times, using the…

Halloween 2011 Recap

Once again one of my very favorite holidays has passed me by faster than I could say, "Boo!"  Yes, Halloween has come and gone and left me with a massive candy overdose.  I seriously don't think I'll be able to look at a Twix bar the same without puking ever again (at least not until next week anyway).  The festive weekend was certainly chalked full of all kinds of fun while it lasted though.

It all started with our annual adults-only costume party, which…
