Should I Care What People Think of Me?

I will never forget one incredible moment a few years ago while working a temp job. While finishing up some work, one of my co-workers asked why I never seem to get bothered by off the wall comments by others. That day was a special day. It was the day I realized that although I've always identified myself as…

Why I am a Bad Catholic

The other day I found myself in a heated discussion and I slipped up and said a four letter word, and it wasn’t love! To which the other person replied, “What a good Catholic!” It was meant as a jamb, said sarcastically, a way to get a rise out of me. And let me tell you, it worked! I continued to yell in frustration, I can’t even remember what I said but I needed to get the rage out… I was drunk with rage. I was in a bad state. I wasn’t being a good Catholic.  Then…

No, I am Not Trying for a Girl so STOP ASKING!

If I had a dollar for every person that questioned me about the sex of my children and had an opinion on my non-existent future child, I would be sitting on my private beach with a delicious cold cocktail in my hand waiting for my personal chef to deliver my lunch. BUT…sadly I don’t, so I am sitting in my house writing this article…

Ended up in the right place accidentally!

Ever make plans to go somewhere, and it doesn't pan out the way you expected? Yet, where you do end up ends up being some how, uh, better? Well, yesterday my sister and niece came over for a visit and our intent was to check out a car show, because car shows are cool, lol. I had no idea it was canceled, so after driving all the way there and seeing the location deserted, I had the bright idea to just go to the Marina and enjoy…

Old People Depress Me

This blog entry is about the challanges of shopping with children. Sometimes I feel very horrible about not seeing the joy and wonder of my experience as a parent as others view it. What I see as frustration others see as nostalgia. Maybe I need to keep that in mind next shopping trip!…

Embracing Your Personal Style

I feel like agents at my office are often times on similar wavelengths.  This last week I had some similar conversations with a few different agents.  What made the experience unusual was that the subjects were brought up to me in the course of the conversation by the other person.  You know that feeling where you say, "that's so funny, I just had that same conversation with so and so."  Yeah, that was me last week.

As some of the newer realtors are becoming more comfortable, me…

A Cook Book Review: Jamie's Food Revolution

I have a LOAD of cookbooks.  I love to cook, I think it is fun.  Typically I find a few recipes in each cook book that I like and the others don't really interest me too much.  Not so with Jamie's Food Revolution: Rediscover How to Cook Simple, Delicious, Affordable Meals .…

Unwelcome 'book 'em' at local library

I live in such a nice little town that meeting someone unpleasant is always a bit of a slap in the face. But it happens, of course. I guess no place is immune.

Yesterday, my daughter wanted to go to the library. She's 12, and she likes to visit "The Teen Place," a special room that houses all the YA offerings, along with a few tables and a line of computers. It has a neon sign and is very hip looking. I knew she'd come out with an armload of Manga books.

Well, I love the…

People of Our Park-Exhibit 1

ughgmmgmdmdofuh....

That's what I feel like doing as I think about how my day went.  It was never ending, or so it seemed.

The littles were in full on crazy mode, Rian was not wanting to nap or be put down, and Levi was having a hard time with me paying so much attention to her.  I wasn't even able to follow through with my plan to hand make Justin's Valentine's Day card.

I wanted so badly to go to the store and pick up something special for my man, but…

The Gestures of a Nation

Before I adopted Elle from Russia, I had a preconceived idea of what Russians were like.  I remember the high stepping soldiers of the Soviet Army marching in Red Square behind the tanks and missiles, the Soviet gymnasts who seemed more like robots than young girls, and let’s not forget Irina Rodnina and Alexander Zaitsev, the famous figure skating couple.  If it weren’t for Olga Korbut and her enchanting smile and bubbly personality, I would have assumed Russians were devoid of…

Inconsiderate Fu*kers!

http://crikeymum.blogspot.com/2010/11/inconsiderate-fuckers.html

After my initial horrific solo mUm travel experience, I developed a strong 'fuck you' approach towards anyone who even dared look in my direction when Michael cried, however, on my recent international travels, again as solo mUm, my patience and language profanity ability were truly tested!

The story begins, again, as our 36-hour… Continue
