My Public Speaking Dilemma

I was contemplating this morning whether to go to work or not... in fact, as early as 6am, I woke up to a confused mind, "Should I go to work or not?" I have not been sleeping well the previous night due to constant coughing and getting up to spit and drink warm water to ease the throat itchiness. Eventually I decided to go to work and it was already 9am then.... I know I would not be able to rest peacefully at home knowing there was going to be a meeting and my work had not completed yet. I…

End Weekend Insanity

Get More Out of Your Weekend

I used to be a madwoman on the weekends.  Dr. D. avoided me Saturday mornings as I rode around on my broom frantically trying to cram in as many tasks before noon as possible.  As a busy working mother, I found that my weekends were consumed with catching up on all of the stuff I couldn't  get done during the week -- laundry, cooking, errands, you name it.  Even before…

Gift Ideas for Teacher Appreciation

School is ending and it is time for teacher appreciation.  Our nation's teachers work very hard educating the future of America.  As the school year comes to a close (for most of us), it is a great time to show them that we recognize and value their hard work.  Below are some gift ideas for your child's favorite teacher(s).

From personal experience (being married to a teacher), I can tell you…

I Don’t Like the Term "Mommy Blogger"

Here is the problem I have with the term “mom blogger”: it gets applied to review bloggers and moms who mostly blog about their life and review products only once in a while, like me.

When people talk about mom bloggers, I think they lump in those review blogs that often don’t even have much personal content on them with my kind of blog, which is all about my personal life. {…

Santa will send your child a personalized video

Back in the day when I painstakingly wrote my Christmas list to send to Santa, I hoped that he would receive the letter and respond accordingly. I never expected a reply, but it would have been awfully nice... if not downright thrilling.

A personal message from Santa is now possible, through the Portable North Pole application. Simply visit the site, answer a few questions and upload a photo or two... and the video is emailed to you in a matter of…

The Safety Of Our Children -- No Matter How Old They Are, We Still Need To Remind Them...

I just read a post on another website about personal safety, especially on college campuses. It is such an important message.

Both of my children attend Virginia Tech. My son was a freshman at VT and on his very first day of classes, a prisoner escaped from the Blacksburg jail. If I remember correctly, this prisoner killed a guard. And my son was in the dorm right next to the dorm where the first two murders occurred on April 16, 2007. And, you may know the rest of the story -- the… Continue
