I have something to confess. My months of gardening went to waste a long while ago, because I saw a snake and lizards that made me feel as if my backyard was their own, not mine, lol. While sitting on my patio today and watching the rain I started to ask myself, why the heck am I outside? This downpour and the heat together makes perfect weather for ruining a girl's hair and I'm tired of using the flat iron when I'm kinda sorta trying to go natural...so why in the world am I watching the raindrops?

The day has finally arrived I have been anticipating for eight months. Planting day! The planning started in February when I ordered sweet corn, and every time I drive in the driveway, I wistfully look at the barren, brown patch of dirt counting the days until spring. A few weeks ago, Colby tilled my garden with his tractor and expanded it by 50%.

It rained last night and when I stepped outside this morning, there was a wet, loamy, spring smell in the air. My heartbeat accelerated with excitement because it is almost garden time. I planted my first garden last year and I loved every second of it. I went into the season with no expectations except to prove my mother wrong when it came to my ability. I surpassed her expectations and I realized I am a gardener.
