Potty training is on my top 3 most difficult tasks as a parent right now. My daughter learned to use the potty by 2 years old without any issues. Now my son, he is 2 1/2 years which is 31 months old, he is a totally different experience and situation. We started when he turned 2.
My son also has an OCD…Continue

Have you ever slipped and said a tacky word in front of your child? I know that I am guilty of this of accidentally saying something I will regret later or said something that wasn't appropriate for my children to hear. I have always tried to be aware and watch what I say and do in front of them. I want to make sure that my kids aren't picking up bad habits. Believe it or…Continue

When toddler girl was fifteen months old I began sitting her on the potty before every bath. The one day she quite happily sat on the potty and did a poo. When she had finished she got up and clapped her hands. Feeling…

If any of you happened to see my Facebook status on Monday you know that I faced a motherhood dilemma.
Scenario; I had asked our kindergartener ½ a dozen times if he placed his lunch in his backpack and to which he replied, yes, each time. So, I drop the kiddos off at school. I get home and go to the fridge to get our 3-year-old a snack and guess what I see in the fridge? His lunch!! Mind you, I asked him like ½…Continue

Many parents often times pressure their children to start potty training their child before they are fully ready. Potty training before your child is ready can cause unnecessary stress for both you and your toddler. With all three of my kids, I waited until they were ready to potty train before I even attempted it. A…Continue

A few months ago we purchased a potty seat for my son, he was starting to show interest in potty training. He has been watching other kids and following us to the restroom for a few months now. After I purchased the potty seat a few months ago, I tried putting my son on the potty. I knew that it was still a bit early and didn’t quite show all of the…Continue

A few weeks ago, I decided that it was time to let my son pick out a potty seat. We choose to get a potty seat that easily fits on the regular toilet, so that I wouldn’t have to retrain him to use the big potty once he had potty training down. Besides that the daycare he attends also uses a potty seat…Continue

Alright it's official, I am joining the ranks of all of the baby mamas making (unsolicited) shares around baby bodily functions. eww. Why would anyone do that? I'm aware, and apologizing. Hopefully that does something for you.
Just this once. I can't help myself.
So, Mateo isn't potty trained. But he is hilarious. This little anecdote…Continue

I bought Eliza a potty this week. I figure we should get her interested in the potty and see what happens. She's always (in her 17 long months of life) been pretty good about making transitions and wanting to move to the next level, so I'm hoping she just kind of figures out this potty stuff on her own. I'm pretty sure she can. I'll just sit back and…Continue
My baby is showing the signs that he is getting close to being ready to potty train. A few weeks ago, he started telling when he has a soiled diaper. He says, “I poop” when he soils his diaper. He hasn’t quite figured out the difference between urinating and pooping. I am excited and nervous at the same…Continue

It never fails. Every shopping trip, as soon as my kids notice the "Restroom" sign at a store, they suddenly have "go to the bathroom badly"! I have two boys, so it's supposed to be easy right? Wrong! My 4 year old has asked for privacy before. Thinking he was just going to stand and handle his business like a "normal" guy, I found him undressing himself completely, because he's more comfortable going to the bathroom naked. Goodness, we're not home! Sometimes he sits, sometimes he…Continue

Potty training isn't easy. You might be nodding your head or thinking "duh". Now that my daughter's a semi pro at the potty training business I wanted to share with you what worked the best for us. I tried two different portable potties and two different toilet seats. I first tried using a gimmick. My daughter loves everything pink, Dora or princess themed and I thought it would help the process. Initially, the gimmick worked whether it was from the color or the decorations she wanted…Continue
