Why You Need to Be Ready for Peer Pressure

Puberty is a Sneaky Thing

Teenagers, and all the interesting things that come along with them, sneak up on us before we even think we are ready. I barely blinked before Cameron turned 13. His voice is getting deep, he's taller than me, and what is food? It disappears before I see it. This kid is still writing the parenting manual at my house because, clearly, this book will never be done.

Peer…

The pressures of being perfect

My son likes to talk through his reading homework with me. Each week he has to choose a book, choose four questions from a list and answer questions about the book. (It used to be way more involved than that, but I think there were parental complaints, so the teacher scaled it back a little.) As an adult, I fully understand what the homework is…

Loving what you shouldn't

How can it be so enjoyable to do something so naughtly like eating an entire cake yourself in the course of 3 days? Don't judge me because I'm doing it for good reasons 1. It was in the freezer and we have to eat everything out of the freezer within the next four days or throw it out 2. No one else in my house will eat it as much as I've tried to pursued Queenie to try it 3. It't so freaking yummy that I can't stop!

I went to the gym today and worked out for 40 minutes, so I'm allowed a… Continue

Being a Universal Friend

Parenting is sometimes overrated. Yes. I said it. Its hard! People long to have babies (me! me!) and then they grow up into teens. (RUN!)

I have a total teenager. He is hilarious, bright, sensitive, and full of teenage angst. He let us know at dinner that he has decided that it would be cool to become a social reject.

Huh?

We asked our 14 year old what inspired him to make this statement, and he said because popularity is stupid. Oye! I have to agree with him. He said this after… Continue
