Healthy Organic Baking

Okay, guilty as charged. I often disguise healthy ingredients in my baking. But when you have finicky eaters at home you have to be creative! Here are some of my favorite ways to bake in a healthy and organic way.

Ditch the Veggie Oil
Heavily processed and little to no nutritional value. Swap it out for a healthy oil or ditch it all together. My favorite healthy oil is… Continue

Tastebud Tuesday: Pumpkin Bake (baby food)

http://www.multifacetmom.com

So I was going through my recipe books, which I haven't done in awhile! I found my book "365 Foods Kids Love to Eat". As I was browsing through the categories, I came across the baby food section. This is a big deal for me, cause I'm tired of giving my 22lb 6 month old son the same boring veggies and fruit all the time! Plus it gets boring cooking the same things all the time! So I was…

For A Spirited Valentine's Day - DIY Blackberry Infused Vodka

At the end of the summer, I sent two of my sons and our moose sized dog Dutch, down the lane to pick blackberries.  An hour later they returned, almost empty handed, with just a pitiful pile of berries tumbling around the bottom of their bowl. I had envisioned an overflowing bounty upon their return and was confused.  “Uhmm, we found out that Dutch likes blackberries too!” they exclaimed with purple stained smiles and ran through the house on to their next adventure.

Clean…

Breakfast in Bed for Two - Berry Puff Pancake

I remember the good ol’ days when my husband used to make me breakfast in bed. In fact, as Valentine’s Day approaches I asked him about the amazing puffed pancake he used to make for me way back when. It took a bit of prompting (obviously it has been way too long) but he finally remembered and started the search for the lost recipe. Torn from the pages of a 1992 Select Homes magazine, we finally found it! Here it is…

Spaghetti Squash Bake

This recipe will take a little bit of time to make but it is definitely worth the effort, especially if you are trying to watch bad carbs and need the taste of some comfort food along the lines of mac and cheese.

The first thing you need to do is to prep the squash.

Directions for the squash:

Cut the squash lengthwise…

Dinner is Done! Meal Assembly Kitchens

The meal prep/assembly shop concept has been around for a while. But I had personally never experienced it before. Why would I, I thought? Our family understands the value of family dinners and we do all sit down to dine together at least 4 times a week. And I know how to cook and – most of the time – enjoy it. Why would I ever need a meal prep service?…

Christmas Morning - Over night Chelsea Buns

As with all families, our Christmas morning’s agenda is all about opening presents and pulling fun gifts and treats out of stockings. But before that even happens, everyone needs to hold tight until the coffee and hot chocolate drinks are made and, more importantly, that the Chelsea Buns (our Christmas morning tradition) are baked. We nibble on these wonderfully gooey, decadent Chelsea Buns that I have prepared the night and just popped in the oven that morning.  They are sooooo easy to make…

Dog Wellness - Left Over Turkey Treats

Of all the meats available for consumption turkey is the healthiest of them all - mainly because it is lower in fat. What a great treat it is for us and our dogs when we get to enjoy turkey left overs for the entire week or longer. Grab hold of a healthy snack for your dog and at the same time envelope dog wellness practices by making his treats at home instead of store bought - for a… Continue

The Mac 'n Cheese Dilemma

http://projectsupermom.blogspot.com/2010/10/mac-n-cheese-dilemma.html\

Tis the season...the season for heavier and carbier foods. As soon as the weather gets cooler and I add my extra blanket to the bed and dig out my favorite fuzzy pink slippers, my body starts to signal that winter is near by berating with cravings for all things carbs! Seriously, like bears, I swear it's some biological need…

Draw for Your Dinner

http://projectsupermom.blogspot.com/2010/10/draw-for-your-dinner.html

If you're like I was, when we first started trying to eat healthy meals at home, our menu of items didn't extend much past grilled chicken, baked fish, and salads...a LOT of salads! I had a collection of cookbooks, but either some of the recipes no longer fit into our new way of eating or we could never agree on what to make or,…
