Rushing around all the time makes it feel like you're getting more done, but the truth is you're probably just getting more stressed out. I timed myself driving in a rushed way in the morning and in a relaxed way, and I only saved three minutes. What would happen if…

Breathe In, Breathe Out. You've got this. Free printable!

Life can be hectic sometimes. It can sweep you up and make you forget about all the small beautiful things around you.

Something new to worry about: Passing along anxieties

When I let my son watch Finding Nemo, I always start it at the scene where Nemo is waking his dad up for the first day of school. I know that fairy tales and children's movies have a long history of removing mothers from stories because moms represent safety and security. But in the case of Finding Nemo, I think that the opening scenes are a little too traumatic. My son…

Relax, Mom

I was sitting in the living room reading a book. My son wandered downstairs and climbed into my lap.

"You haven't checked on me in a while," he said.

"That's right," I answered. "You have free time to…

Images To Fill Your Soul: The Milky Way From The Mountain

Sometimes we all need a little food for our soul. The majority of us live away from nature in cities and suburbs, surrounded by buildings.  Sometimes we get out to a park, enjoy some hiking or go camping but those times are often few and far between.

TGIFive Question Friday and a 'stay'cation!

It's been a long, long week but we've finally made it to Friday! Congratulations!

My 'stay'cation starts tonight and I am so excited. Tonight, Kevin and I are having take-out Thai, going to watch rented movies and just veg out (Cell phones- off!). Tomorrow, we get to sleep in (OMG! :P) and then we have an appointment to speak with our Reverend in the afternoon. Then, we're going to be going out to dinner at our favorite Irish restaurant and then possibly hitting up a… Continue

The Spa Who Loved Me

Eons ago I had my first spa experience in the Philippines. It was a place called The Palm Garden and it was at the penthouse of the building I worked at — I worked a few floors down for what was then a start-up magazine (now one of the established fashion magazines in the Philippines). It was all very Devil Wears Prada – so you can imagine my excitement when they needed someone to write about a spa.

Since I was just a lowly fashion assistant, I grabbed the opportunity to prove my… Continue

Need ideas on how to get the word out there.

Recent visitors suggested I try to market our guest house to parents of Autistic children. Their child loved the animals and whole atmosphere of the farm. The parents were able to relax completely in the guest house and cook and do things whenever they wanted. They had been searching for 'hands on' activities for their child. He was able to feed the cows, visit the llama and bond with the goats. If anyone has any ideas how to target such an audience, I would greatly appreciate it. Or if… Continue
