My daughter and her friends think I have road rage. I don’t have road rage; it’s just that I frequently disagree with how others handle themselves on the road.

As we traveled cross country on our 2600 miles, 10-day family road trip to Ontario, Canada we found our smart phones indispensable in making our trip a little smoother. With the assistance of GPS capability, a map app, the RoadAhead app and…Continue

I’m a warrior, a road warrior. Well, among other things. Really. Just hear me out.
Being a family of six limits our options when it comes to travel. Heck, being a family of six limits us financially in several respects, because as you can guess six times any dollar amount usually equals much more than most people can afford.
Hence, over the last few years this family has become a band of road warriors, trekking it across…Continue

The dictionary defines guilt as “a feeling of responsibility or remorse for some offense, crime, or wrong, whether real or imagined.” Real or imagined, that sounds about right. Might even be more accurate, at least helpful, if they added a footnote, “Warning: Duration of guilt known to last several years. Atonement not guaranteed.” Now that’s the kind of guilt I know. Come to think of it, I didn’t know there was another kind.
It’s taken me a while, but I’m fairly proud of…Continue

Do you have a GPS navigator in your car? I don’t because I’m a woman and I always know where I’m going. And if I don’t, I ask…or use a map. This ancient method has never failed me yet.
However, as a man, my husband is often lost. He refuses to ask for directions and the only map he has in his truck is a map of Texas, which really doesn’t help him when he is driving through South Dakota. So, it is probably a good thing he has GPS navigator in both of his…Continue

Travelling of any sort is always a crap shoot for me. Aside from the logistics of 4 kidlets, (although, with everyone out of “babyhood”, I have finally become adept enough at packing that I can leave behind the kitchen sink!), the Griswold moniker is well earned…I seem to encounter “adventures” that fall outside of the typical. Moreover, MY typical usually falls within…Continue

Now that I have gotten settled back in from MY incredible road trip, & have a moment or two before my own stolen towels need to be tossed in to the dryer, I know you’re all anxiously awaiting the results of my cheer weekend…right Cheryl??!! Surprisingly, despite living a mere 4 or 5 hours away from…Continue

Over my daughter’s spring break I decided to take her on a road trip, not to the beach, nor skiing in the mountains, but back to my hometown. I grew up in a small
farming community in east-central Illinois.yes""> Look Tolono up on a map, you might find it just south of
Champaign. It is a 7-hour drive,
so Elle and I packed up Sarge and headed east.yes""> We had ample tunes and conversation to keep us awake and
alert for the…
