Things I've Learned This Week

** Shamrock Shakes are 600+ calories of awesomeness.

** "Quiet" is most definitely NOT a word I'd use to describe my house.

** My son has apparently given up sleep for Lent.  Lucky me.

** Sometimes when people say they don't need help, it's cause they're too overwhelmed to see that they do.

** Kids' ear…

Pre-Spring Dining Room Decor

http://www.thepiggytoes.com/2013/02/19/pre-spring-dining-decor/

I know.  I’m having a baby in less than 1 week and need/should stop but I just can’t.  I’ve never been this uncomfortable during a pregnancy so since sitting and laying hurt, I’m standing.  A LOT.  And finding things to do around our home!  I planned to leave all of the Valentine’s Day decor up until after the baby arrived but on…

How to Make Transitioning Your Baby Into Their Own Room Easier

Many parents work very hard to decorate a nursery for their baby; however, most parents will tell you that their child didn’t sleep in his or her own room for the first few weeks.  During those first few weeks most parents choose to keep the baby in their room so that they can easily check on them during the middle of the night.  Read the full story at: Uplifting Families…

Welcome to our Toy-Room

http://www.thepiggytoes.com/2012/11/16/welcome-to-our-toy-room/

One of the joys of, well, all of my pregnancies is that I organize and re-organize everything.  Tell me you’re the same way, yes?  During my last ‘nesting session’, I hit the toy room, purged lots of toys and re-organized everything.  My head was spinning with options as to what to do with all of their toys and…

How to Easily Organize Any Space In Your Home

Each day that I walk home from Aliya's bus stop I chat with one of my neighbors who also has a child that rides the bus with her. We basically share our thoughts on general things like life, kids and whatever we can think of for our five minute catch up as we walk home.

I work from home and I didn't have the previous day scheduled to work so me being my Martha Stewart self (I like to think so) kept myself busy. I told her how I organized Ayanna's entire closet before she came home…

Why do we buy so many kids toys?

Why do we think kids need so many toys? I am DONE!

When I was young we had a handful of toys and we were fine with that. It seems now that kids, mine included, have more toys then I did my entire childhood. This is what I walk downstairs too daily, it’s the play room.…

Thifty Lil’ Homeschool/Therapy Room

I have been working hard to get myself organized. So far, I’ve gotten the kitchen(mostly done), the living room done, and our lil’ homeschool/therapy room. Actually the boys spend most of their day in here. We do all their therapy in this room, ALL their Legos, and of course our schooling.

Homeschooling can be very expense & so is Autism, diabetes, pacemaker, & hypothyroidism. Mix it all up, and we are constantly broke. We are constantly thinking out the box, and looking to…

Response to "Should Fatties Get a Room? (Even of TV)? by Maura Kelly ~ Mom Blog ~

Yep, that is the title that seems to be causing such a stir in the blogosphere, as well as in Hollywood news. It's all directed to the TV show Mike and Molly featured on CBS. Maura Kelly, a blog writer for Marie Claire magazine wrote a blog posting in which she shared a few choice words about how this show is depicting obese characters in intimate situations. So, why is everyone outraged? Well, read the… Continue

QUEST FOR CHAIRS-MY VINTAGE FIND!

I had searched for some dining chairs and a table for what seemed to be FOREVER...until I saw some vintage chrome chairs on ebay! The only problem was, they were being sold by someone in New York and the auction was for pick up only. Determined to have them, I emailed the seller and begged her to ship them to me. She finally said…

Painting the Baby's Room

When I decided to paint this room, I was only hoping that someday it would be my son's room. After months of trying I still wasn't even pregnant, well I think there is power in suggestion....not long after I started this room I was pregnant with our son..

I didn't really have a plan...I just sort of started painting...I knew I wanted a 2-tone room… Continue

I Swore I Would Never…

Before I had kids, I often sat with my arms-crossed and face-scowled when kids, in any environment, gleefully ran around me, shouting at the top of their lungs. I had this permanent look of non-amusement at any event that was all about kids. I would refuse to sit beside little ones on a plane; I even remember asking a booking agent one time if they actually had a child-free flight. If a hostess at a… Continue
