My workspace is pretty standard, very practical, but kind of boring if I'm being honest. Lots of desk space, tons of papers covering said space, cabinets, laptops, ever-present mug of coffee. I try to keep it organized but it's not easy when ideas are constantly flowing out of my head and onto Post-Its. My name is Kristen and I'm a Post-It addict. Whenever I get a thought, I jot it down and stick it...well, wherever I can find space, which is a commodity.…Continue

t’s a cliché for a reason–life happens when you are busy making plans. I filmed this 33 weeks pregnancy vlog in a state of blissful ignorance, one day before my pre-term labor adventure began!
In the video, I talk about how I’m enjoying pregnancy but have so much to do that I wouldn’t mind if this baby stayed in a couple of months past the due date. Boy, was I mistaken!
The next morning, I was rushed to…Continue

My son's birthday just passed. Since it's the beginning of the week and we'll be celebrating on the weekend, we knew we still had to do something ON his birthday so I baked a cake and cooked dinner. We always eat food at the same time, which is whatever time I finish cooking, but we eat in different rooms. My kids eat in the kitchen, I usually eat in my room while watching one of my favorite shows and my husband likes to eat in…Continue

Sometimes I ask my son about the house he would like to live in one day. He tells me that he wants a big backyard with a fence to keep him safe (that's my guy!), lots of good sidewalks for riding bikes, a slide instead of a stairway (don't ask) and three rooms just for him.…Continue

Over the last several weeks, I have noticed that my youngest son doesn’t like to go to bed at night. I am not sure if he is scared of the dark, terrified to be alone, dealing with separation anxiety, if he is just going through a phase where he wants to be independent, or he is afraid of “monsters” hiding under his bed or in his closet. Every night we go through the same exact routine, my youngest son will throw a fit and he will tell me that he doesn’t want to go to bed. Each night we…Continue

One of the hardest things for me about parenthood is the constant change. I like a slow, easy schedule that is both flexible and predictable. My mornings need to be quiet. I need to get all my work done before 3. I need to get dressed early or it will never happen. All of these things are not what parenthood is about, and I constantly struggle with getting my head back in the game.
Things are not working for our family right now. Ben is getting older, and Baby Sister is getting older,…Continue

I know. I’m having a baby in less than 1 week and need/should stop but I just can’t. I’ve never been this uncomfortable during a pregnancy so since sitting and laying hurt, I’m standing. A LOT. And finding things to do around our home! I planned to leave all of the Valentine’s Day decor up until after the baby arrived but on…Continue

Many parents work very hard to decorate a nursery for their baby; however, most parents will tell you that their child didn’t sleep in his or her own room for the first few weeks. During those first few weeks most parents choose to keep the baby in their room so that they can easily check on them during the middle of the night. One of the joys of, well, all of my pregnancies is that I organize and re-organize everything. Tell me you’re the same way, yes? During my last ‘nesting session’, I hit the toy room, purged lots of toys and re-organized everything. My head was spinning with options as to what to do with all of their toys and…Continue
