Things I've Learned This Week

** Not realizing your sports bra is too small until halfway into your run is nothing short of sucky.

** It took me way too 'cussing' long to appreciate the awesomeness of "The Fantastic Mr.Fox."

** Kids are a zillion times better at handling stress than adults are.

** I need to start carrying around a ladle to…

Take It To The Bridge

You may have noticed from my recent ranting that I've been letting the NYC heat and humidity get to me. Whilst I still heart NY, I've not been loving what the weather has been doing to my legs or my spirits. Running has become both a challenge and a chore lately, as you may be aware if you follow …

Central Park Conservancy Run For Central Park - Race Recap

The Central Park Conservancy Run for Central Park was my sixth qualifying race for the NYC 2012 Marathon, and one that I'd been deliberating over for most of the preceding week. This was my third 4 mile race of the year, and the second time I'd run this course. Last time had been at the NYRR 4 mile back in April, where I'd knocked 4 minutes off my previous time and exceeded all my expectations. It was a brilliant race for…

Workout Meltdown

When I am quiet about my workouts and diet, it means one of two things - 1) I am just humming along, working out and eating healthy as normal, 2) I am flying under the radar because I have fallen off the wagon.

I feel ridiculous talking about my diet and exercise plan when people are losing everything they have, even their lives in tornadoes.  But people all over the nation are talking about who won American Idol, Arnold Schwarzenneger's love child and baby mama (still!), and of…

The Push!

So of course last weekend when I was out on one of my coffee dates with my

favorite gal pal Tiff, we decided to change things up a bit. We looked

at our belly flab and said heh why don't we work out together...the

thought was briefly dismissed many… Continue

The Great Escape

mso-ansi-language:EN-US;mso-fareast-language:EN-US"">I ran away from home on

Saturday. Seriously…I did. I didn’t pack a suitcase or pack a

snack…and I did eventually come home…five hours later, but I ran away nonetheless. Friday was a really bad day with the

kids. It was just really bad and I

was so tired at the end of the day, I went to bed early. Before crawling into bed, I went out to

the living room expecting to see the kids tucked safely away in their…

Tips for jogging with your baby!!

As a past track athlete, I've always told myself I would continue to run my entire life. After having my first baby I quickly figured out how important it was for me to be able to load up the babes in the jogger. More than losing the baby weight, I needed it for my sanity. And honestly, now that my "baby" is almost 3 he loves it just as much!!! Ahhhh... what a relief! Its taken some fine… Continue

This Is What I Signed Up For

When the stresses of Motherhood become more then you can handle, where do you find refuge? Some might take a long bath when the husband gets home or hand the kids off and go for a run. Some might steal a moment to read the Bible to draw strength from The Almighty, while others will turn to drinking, perhaps to wash away their thoughts. I myself find it difficult to do any of these. Why, you might ask? Well, I’ll tell you why…

First of all, the most obvious choice would be drink… Continue

Body After Baby: Run the Pounds Off

Monday is here again! Time to look back on the week and see how we've done, along with set new goals for the week ahead! I started running with Lucas last week and I'm loving it. We have some nice trails (smooth paths, really) around here and the weather has been so perfect. I also lost a pound, and I'm happy to say that I've lost all my baby weight! It's funny how your body really does change after having kids. I can say that I'm back to where I was weight wise pre-pregnancy, but I definately… Continue

No Excuses!

No Excuses!

Joel and I have always been an active couple. We met on the college track team. Both pole vaulters (he was amazing, by the way). Have always loved the same things. Avid runners, wakeboarders, snowboarders, surfers, anything active and outdoors really. When we decided to have a baby we had a lot of negative forecasting. Many people were telling us our lifestyle would change. That frustrated us. Always thought it doesn't have to be like that! I hated the classic... "you will see… Continue
