A Whole Lotta Gardening

Life has been full lately.

A beautiful, tasty, diverse kind of full.

But, so full that some afternoons all I want to do is nap. Curl up on top of my clean bed, babe in arms, and drift off. Not for a long while, just a half hour.

Alas, Reality Check:

Babe is hardly a babe anymore. He's 1 already. Wah!

Babe only takes one short nap a day. One very short nap.

And, twenty minute nap usually occurs before the afternoon lethargy hits.…

Great Grains: Inspired By Red Quinoa Salad www.pennylove76.wordpress.com

Great Grains

18 Mar

Sometimes, I yearn to be inspired. However, inspiration for me does not just show up on demand. Instead, it just arrives, like a random thought. Minute in the bigger scheme of things but significant enough to make me feel an internal spark that is completely fueled by creativity.  One day not so long ago I felt that spark upon seeing a picture of a beautiful…

Broccoli Salad Recipe

Many suns ago while at a baby shower, one of the dishes that was served was this amazing broccoli salad. While broccoli in and of itself might now scream excitement, this little dish did when coupled with grapes, bacon, raisins and almonds. My taste buds lit up.

I was in love.

So I have just discovered that the large bushes growing in the back

corner of our garden are actually tomato plants (I know, I'm not much of

a gardener). Not knowing much about all that, I was a bit sceptical

about actually eating… Continue

Summer Peach and Tomato Salad - Delicious!

This is a wonderful summer salad that my friend Melissa first made for me at a birthday party. Then when my family went to the beach last week, I knew I wanted to make this salad. Everyone loved it, although some said they might prefer it with feta cheese instead of the goat. I…

Tasty Cucumber & Pomegranate Salad

I will admit it – before making this recipe I had never eaten a pomegranate.

I have had pomegranate juice, but this was the first time I’ve purchased the whole fruit. I had Mike open it up and get the seeds out for me [it kind of looked like a pain to me - thank you, honey!]. I popped one in my mouth – a little crunch, a little explosion of deliciousness!…

flank steak and arugula salad

I am sure you have all noticed that my recipes are mostly light and healthy. I tend to eat that way in the summer as I live in sunny southern California and am in a bathing suit every weekend. It sucks to be me, I know.

This fall however, you will see a dramatic difference in my recipes. I am from Indiana. Comfort food is my middle name and I can only be parted from it for so long. As the leaves change, look for my recipes to become… Continue

To me at least!

If you love stuffed baked potatos with bacon and cheese on it, you’ll love this one. This salad is great chilled for a barbeque or while still warm as a side dish.

Not the healthiest thing in the world, especially since I use more of the artery clogging ingredients, but it really is awesome!

Here's the… Continue
