Here is the latest in my DIY Grocery…
When I hear the word Campbell’s my mind goes back to a simpler time. A time when the biggest decision of the day was what type of cereal I should have for breakfast. When my day would consist of play and not coming home till the street light came on, when there were no iPhones, emails to check, or bills to pay. When I hear the word Campbell’s I think of childhood and warm tomato soup with grilled cheese sandwiches, warm cheesy chicken casseroles, etc. Campbell’s was definitely a…Continue
For a long time I just accepted that the costs of gas were a part of life. I never checked which gas station was cheapest; I always figured that they were pretty much all the same and who cares about a cent or two here and there? When I moved recently, just a couple of towns over (from richy-richy Avon, CT to working-class Bristol); same state, same county even, I couldn’t help but notice that gas is always .20 to .25 cents cheaper across the board. I am still having sticker shock and…Continue

I can’t believe that summer is almost over with and my kids will be heading back to school in less than a month. It seems like this summer has flown by. I have enjoyed having my kids at home with me so that I could spend some extra time with them. A few weeks ago, I noticed that the stores were already stocking the aisles with…Continue

Welcome to another installment of Friday Favorites! Here, you’ll find three items that help my family in our quest to be green and healthy.
Let There Be Light
Since most of the United States has switched over to Daylight Savings Time, we can expect to enjoy more hours of sunshine each day. This is great news for those wanting to soak up more Vitamin D and chase those nasty Winter Blues away. However, it’s still necessary to use light bulbs around the…Continue

Is your family growing? Do you have a limited amount of space or bedrooms in your house? Bunk beds are a great way to utilize bedroom space and allow your children to sleep in their own space. When my children were younger, they had to share a bedroom due to a limited amount bedrooms in the house that I was living in and at the time we weren’t in a position to move into a new home. Bunk beds allowed me to maximize the space that we had so that each of my children were able to sleep…Continue

When I made the decision, really made the decision, to adopt a greener lifestyle, I had people say to me “I’d love to go green but I can’t afford it.” Have you ever said that? Thought that? If so, I will refrain from telling you what I said in return.
The point is that if you think about it,…Continue

I have struggled for almost a year on getting all the coupons that Sunday Coupon Preview says we should get in our weekly papers. At the beginning of 2012, I decided no more! I started ordering whole inserts from Insert Insanity. They are located in Florida. Some of the coupons are specifically for the area (like coupons for Goody’s asprin and store coupons that are regional), but those are like 2 pages of coupons from the bulk of them…Continue

1) Consignment sales. Selling and buying there. Check out Bargain Watcher to find consignment sales in your area. Also if you can tell your friends and family that you are selling stuff to bring in extra income you would be surprised at how much you will get, trust me. You can even turn yard sale-ing into an Ebay biz. I thoroughly enjoyed …Continue

I'll start by saying that last week was maybe the second time I have ever stepped foot in a thrift store. I don't know why I feel a little funny admitting that. The first time was for a high school dance. We needed some Hawaiian shirts and it's a pretty good place to get them. Since that time, I think the combination of clutter…Continue

So I talked about Totsy.com a few weeks ago. It's a fantastic website where you can sign up for great deals for your family. Seriously, the deals are awesome. I went on there again today just to check it out and I saw that they are having a sale on Lotus Cosmetics starting in 30 days. What really caught my attention is that this line of make-up is USDA certified organic. I don't know about you but my skin reacts to anything harsh I put on it and I've been on the look out for a good…Continue

Yesterday was one of those days I plunked my bottom down on the couch and watched television until my eyes glazed over. The six hours of gardening had left me with little energy to do much of anything else. As I was channel surfing, looking for a program to take a nap to, I came across TLC: Extreme Couponing. I had seen the trailers for the program, but I didn’t really have much of an interest watching women clip…Continue
