Why #ichoose Scentsy

Before I joined Scentsy I was struggling working 2 jobs and practically homeless. After some mis-communication over parking tickets my husband and I decided to work on our marriage. One of the things I made clear was that I wanted to be independent and continue to work from home, but also make money from home.  The kids were in daycare and my…

Family Calendars: Scheduling our Busy Family Lives

Life gets busier and more complicated as we go from childhood to adulthood.  First it’s all about us.  Then it’s about us and our family.  Then it’s about us, our family, and our friends.  Then, as we continue to grow and have families of our own, we add our spouses and children.  Then our parents get older, and we…

Advice from Busy Moms

I have a lot of busy moms in my line of work.  A lot of them have their own “trade secrets” and I wanted to tap into that knowledge base and share their best tips with you.  Here is what I came up with.  Many of these are direct quotes from moms like you.  If they can do it, so can you!  Pick one tip and start there.

-Use grocery delivery services such as Pea Pod.  You can set up a recurring delivery so your staples arrive automatically every single week.  Don’t spend time at the…

How to Request a Flexible Work Schedule

I have a number of working mothers in my marketing department and several have arranged flexible work schedules to accommodate their changing work/life demands. Flexible work schedules are becoming much more common as employers recognize it as valuable tool for retaining their top talent and promoting work/life balance. In my department we have a number of different kinds of…

My Kids Are Eating Out of Boredom!

Two weeks ago, we went to the beach for a week, and my children would barely eat.  We were busy swimming, boogie boarding, sight seeing, and golfing.  Since we have been home, the weather has been pretty pitiful, so we have all been stuck inside.  I hate the word bored, but they are bored!  When they are bored, they tend to eat more.  Kate is eating every 30 minutes, and claims she is starving!  In addition, Cam has been sleeping in, so he wants to start the day with cereal or pancakes, even if… Continue

Thanks for the advice!

Thanks for all the advice! My schedule has always been to give her a bath at around 7, then nurse, then bed by 8. I tried moving it up earlier but she would end up fussing and falling asleep even later. My pediatrician said to feed her 3 solid meals a day and nurse in between. Continue Reading

My baby won't sleep!

Before I continue on with my craft show story.....keeping you all on the edge of your seat LOL.....I need to solicit advice. Why won't my baby sleep???

Here's the story, I think I was spoiled by her early on, so now I'm having trouble coping. When she was about 2 months old she started sleeping through the night - meaning 8pm to 8am.....yes, seriously. And yes, it was awesome. Then around 4 months she started waking up at about 4am, would nurse, and fall back to sleep until 8am. I thought… Continue

Daily Family Planner

I tend to have a one-track mind. Once I start something, that's it; everything else kinda gets put on the back burner until that thing is done. I've always known this about myself, but every now and then the reality of my blinders hits me. The most recent focus of my time and energy has been my blog. I get up in the morning… Continue

Sleep Deprivation Related to Weight Gain

There seems to be a number of contributing factors to the obesity epidemic our nation is facing. Some of these include excessive caloric intake, decreased physical activity and cultural influences. Now some researchers are investigating whether sleep deprivation may contribute to obesity.

Research presented at the International AC21 Research Festival points out that short sleep duration may lead to obesity through an increase of appetite via hormonal changes caused by the sleep… Continue

Marriage Mondays ~ ME change for HIS schedule?

Have you ever experienced a time where your husband had a lot on his plate? Maybe he was taking comps for a master's degree. Maybe he had an evaluation at work. Maybe he's in finance, and it's tax season (wear a nametag - he will remember you :) ). Maybe he's a firefighter who is battling seasonal fires or in construction, taking advantage of good weather (Do NOT pretend to be in a burning building to get him to notice you!). Maybe he's a teacher and school is starting. Like it or not, his… Continue

Make Room for Mom: An Alternative Work Schedule

woman-file-cabinet.png One of the main reasons single moms seek a flexible or alternative work schedule (also called variable work hours) is so they can have more freedom, flexibility, and time with their children. They want a lifestyle with less restrictions and more free time. Alternative and flexible work arrangements are ways to structure work in other than the traditional… Continue
