The day I discovered my husband’s side chick, I cried. I’ve known my husband for quite some time. We met when I was 15 and 16, just right outside of our homes. From the moment of that first hello, I couldn’t help but to feel butterflies. After we parted ways, I went to Howard University and he went to San Jose State University,I never really imagined that I would see him again. Needless to say life is funny. After 8 years we finally reconnected and I felt like that little…Continue

Life can be a bit discouraging! It is hard. It is rough. We ALL have bad days that sometimes turn into bad weeks, bad months and even bad years.
This week I ran into several different people, all going through completely different trials, but all struggling with one thing exactly the same – their self worth. A young friend struggling with the overwhelming amout of homework she had to get done, a young mom trying to find balance between her job and children, a wife going through a…Continue

Yesterday afternoon when my son got into the car, he was asking his sister if she ever put salt on ice. I didn’t realize that he was talking about putting the salt and ice combination on his skin. I just assumed that his science teacher was teaching them about temperature changes using salt and ice. Then this afternoon, I noticed a huge red spot…Continue

Kindness is a state or quality of being kind. By being kind to yourself you emit more supporting, helpful and kind energies to the universe and in revert get the same that support you and help you to get control over your life. When you are kind enough to self, your self-sabotaging behavior which unconsciously you might have, gets converted into a supportive behavior and helps you to improve…Continue

In September 2008, the financial world erupted when the largest global economic crisis in recent history rippled across the country. Experts proclaimed that it would take five years for unemployment rates to recoup, and six years for the housing market. Nearly five years in, and the state of this nation’s economy is still teetering on unsteady ground.…Continue

Is your life an endless cycle, revolving around work and taking care of the kids? If so, you’re not alone. In a recent study by the Families and Work Institute, ½ of American women say they don’t have enough time to spend on themselves and to choose the activities they enjoy. We all know that saying ‘yes’ to more responsibility can make us feel safer with the boss and help us avoid conflict in the family. But too often ‘yes’ is our default mode with just about…Continue

Sabotaging my own success? I don’t think so! Well.. we ALL have done it at some point in time.
This is a very important topic because each of you have started your own business for a reason. Whether it is to replace an income, make ends meet for your family or make your passions become a reality, success follows those who are open to it. When you are in business you want it to be successful right?…Continue

I realized something yesterday while at a cookout for a friend.
Something pretty big!
Something awesomely amazing! Yes, I realize that probably isn't grammatically correct. Hush! It expresses how I feel!
The realization, epiphany, understanding that I came to…

It doesn't feel like it’s been almost 4 years since I was divorced, but I do feel like I've come a long way. Working on remodeling my interior during my transition was outrageously more difficult than Eva 2.0—The Exterior.…Continue

So yesterday I took the entire day off to hang out with my son, who is not quite 14. I told him that we could do whatever he wanted to do - the day belonged to him. He said he wanted to go out to lunch. I figured as much. He also wanted to check out the latest "G.I. Joe" movie. That would not have been my first choice, but what the heck. It was his day after all and there were cute guys and some fighting and car chases. I could roll with that. But I was more than a little…Continue

My new book, Pink is Just a Color and so is Blue will be available on Amazon in 2 weeks.
Pink is Just a Color and so is Blue is inspired by my 2 boys. I once heard my older son telling my younger one that he was “like a girl” because he liked the color pink and enjoyed playing with toys that some people might…Continue

It's been some time since I've written and that's been for several reasons. Firstly, Dylan had several set backs the past few weeks. She had seizures, then an asthma attack that put her back on the vent, then two infections in her trach tube and finally, her spasticity has gotten progressively worse each week. I was emotionally drained a bit more each week and got to my lowest point during Week 13 where I just wasn't sure if I would be able to take anymore setbacks. But as usual, God was…Continue

As women, we can be really hard on ourselves and each other. I know every time I go out in public, I get more stares from women than men. Not necessarily because they're trying to hit on me or anything like that, but because women can be so such critics of other women and how they look.
"Girl, what she got on," "Honey she think she cute," "She think she…

Spring is just around the corner! To most of us, spring represents a time for freshness, growth and re-birth. Flowers start to bloom, animals emerge from hibernation, and birds return to the north from their winter homes to nest, procreate, and chirp away from morning ‘til dusk.
In most parts of the country, days become longer, weather becomes milder, and many people emerge from their own winter hibernations and spend less time indoors. The warmer weather…Continue
