Okay, so about a week ago I wrote a post about email marketing techniques. Remember...I said I wanted to figure out a way to get people to actually open my newsletter? On my big BOOK LAUNCH DAY???
Well, here are the results of my efforts. Out of 229 recipients, 45.4% opened the email. That is a ROCKING number, folks!!!! The industry average, according to Mail Chimp, is 16.9%.
This is what I learned.
A sexy title with the…Continue
My son has an imaginary wife. And he loves to tell me stories about her.
Her name is Captain Flamers. She is a cowgirl and she was sick for a long time, but he took good care of her until she was better. She and he like to ride horses together.…

I have a friend with a name very close to my husband's. And I have to keep that in mind, because every time I pull up my husband's name in my phone's contact list, his name appears first. He's a good enough friend, so I've actually given him a fair warning that if he ever receives an inappropriate or confusing text from me to ignore it. (And preferably delete it.) Because when I send messages about being out of soap or a sappy "wish you…Continue

Take a moment and recall the sex talk you had (or didn't have) with your parents. I got mine from my Mother after an episode of the Wonder Years in which the main character gets the sex talk from his father. (Belated: Thanks, Mom!)…Continue

I honestly don't know where the time has gone, but apparently, I blinked, and my kids are old enough to have the "sex talk" in school. I know -- crazy, right??!!!! Yep, the wonder of the ol' reproductive system has currently been the hot topic of fifth grade…Continue

Years ago when my daughter was 10, I realized that my relationship with my daughter was much smoother and easier than that of the average or typical relationship. Yes! I said easier. I have always been told, wait for it, things will change as soon as she’s a teenager.
Fast forward to age 14, the biggest challenge for myself was that she thought she was “ugly” because she has always been very tall for her age. Those feelings quickly changed after she became more involved in sports.…Continue

Please believe the hype – forty truly is fabulous. I can’t say what it is like for all forty years old women. But for me (and most of my friends) - It’s an age where my children are out of the baby stage, my career is getting into a grove, my marriage is fun and comfortable. I have made peace with my stretch marks and I have finally forgiven my children for my saggy boobs. In fact, now that I have a great bra - I have really have started to appreciate my body.
Basically life is pretty…Continue

I didn’t get a chance to watch the VMA award shows on T.V. a few nights ago but I have seen clips of Miley Cyrus’s big performance. As a mom, I am outraged and feel as if this type of content shouldn’t be on prime time television. After all, many families…Continue

From the moment I found out that I was expecting with each one of my children, I couldn’t wait until I was able to have ultrasound done during the later half of the second trimester so that I could find out the gender of my baby. In fact, I have figured out how some couples or moms can make it through their entire pregnancy not knowing the sex on the…Continue

After getting the kiddos situation in the kitchen with an art project this morning I set off for the family room to fold clothes. Exciting I know! While folding I turned on the TV and quickly found myself being pulled into a talk show. The topic was unconventional marriages. The host was interviewing a traditional Orthodox Jewish marriage. First I found it ironic that the topic was unconventional marriages and the couple was in a traditional marriage. My second thought was, when…Continue

I will never forget being in elementary school and my mother sitting me down to have the dreaded sex talk. I can still see her sitting in the brown chair of our living room and hear her speak those disturbing, scary words, like penis, vagina and babies coming out of it. Oh. My. God. Is she really saying these things? Make it stop, God, please, make it stop, I remember thinking.…Continue
