Freaking Out About Co-Sleeping

In case you’re wondering why I look a little taller today, it’s because I’m standing on my mommy soap box. Check out Mommy DIY if you don’t want to read my statement, otherwise, read on.

I want to be a good mom, I really do, but I have no idea what I am doing! While I was pregnant I studied parenting literature, questioned other moms, and prepared myself for baby. Lately, people just tell me what to do when I’m…

Things I've Learned This Week

** Your cabin fever's reached Code Red when you're jealous of the squirrels outside breathing in all that fresh, freezing cold air.

** Trying to work a crossword puzzle when you're tired just makes you feel stupid.  And tired.

** I've washed my hands so many times over the past few days that I may no longer have fingerprints.

**…

Top 10 Baby Myths

By: Jennifer S.

Mommy Huh

I was the first of my family and friends to have a baby last year during the baby boom. Cousins were pregnant, co-workers were pregnant, friends were pregnant, even famous people who are significantly older than me were pregnant. I began to suspect babies aren’t really made the way my mother told me. I think sometimes you can get pregnant from drinking water.…

The Evolution of Sleep Deprivation

Lately, I've been thinking a lot about the dreadful toll motherhood has taken on my sleeping patterns.  Little by little, I'm starting to realize that this sleep deprivation shit is just a never-ending, vicious cycle that nobody ever REALLY tells you about.  Evidently, it never really goes away but just presents itself in different forms along the way, starting from the time…

The Toy-Which-Must-Not-Be-Named

My son doesn’t have a Jack-in-the-box. Excuse me while I pause and breathe a sigh of relief.

But what does alarm me are the toys that play music, light up, or have some other battery operated function… especially at 3 am.

If you’re a mom it’s not hard to imagine that 3 am wake-up call from your child. You hear a small sound coming from the baby monitor and hope it doesn’t become a bigger more upset sound. But the moans and groans become a cry and you accept your fate (if you…

Paper Airplanes From The Heart

Bedtime in my house is a huge, old never-ending pain in my ass.  I keep hoping and praying that we'll FINALLY turn the corner where my kids realize that, holy shit, sleeping actually kinda rocks!!  But, sadly, we haven't even come close to that point in our journey together. …

Beauty Sleep…Myth Or Must?

{by} Sasha | Crows' Feet, Cupcakes, and Cellulite

Like most women, I usually wake up tired. The kind of tired that makes you want to crawl back in bed and sleep for 24 straight hours. The kind of tired that causes you to bump into…

Is It Hot In Here Or Is It Just Me?

Know the great thing about getting older?  No?  Well, me neither!  There's certainly not a whole lot that I find entertaining about the wrinkles, the aches and pains, the eye baggage, the gray hairs, the sleeplessness, and worst of all, the damn hot flashes!  Seriously, is this the kind of thanks we get for shooting the future of America out of our uterus way back…

The sanpietrino miracle

Everytime we step out for our  little neighborhood walks, me and Princess Giulia hear voices coming from either the end of the street or the corner of the square asking;

"Is she sleeping?"

And my answer is pretty much always the same:

"Yes. She is".

Again.

Bar tender: "Is she sleeping?"

The Blessed Alone

I was in the shower this morning and my daughter came in to ask me if I was wearing my bathing suit to the park today. What? That couldn’t have waited 5 minutes till I got out of the shower? And why does she care? I mean, she’s seven. Her idea of matching clothes involves a purple tutu, a green shirt and sparkles in her hair. This is the kid who tells me I look beautiful when I do something outrageous like comb my hair. (I know I have set the bar really low on this one.)
It got…

My Big Fat Mommy Screw Up

You already know how exhausting our bedtime routine is. And if not, please feel free to catch up, shake your head, and send coffee here.

So yesterday, after being up with Katie past 11pm, being up with her from 2- 3:30am, and then having her wake up at…
