The real reason dishes aren’t done (today)

My husband’s biggest pet peeve with me is that the dishes never seem to get done.  The house can be spotless, the kids are still alive and thriving and yet if there are dishes stacked in the sink then the whole world is going to end.

A while ago I followed the organizational guru The Fly Lady, who’s first step…

Why #ichoose Scentsy

Before I joined Scentsy I was struggling working 2 jobs and practically homeless. After some mis-communication over parking tickets my husband and I decided to work on our marriage. One of the things I made clear was that I wanted to be independent and continue to work from home, but also make money from home.  The kids were in daycare and my…

Wonderful Wednesday - Wise Words from Another - Clause McKay

Wonderful Wednesday - it is wonderful to stand tall and proud in the face of unfair opposition.

In this entry we are continuing the Wonderful Wednesday - Wonderful Words from Other series. Today I am going to share Claude McKay's "If We Must Die." As a young child, I remember wanting to be a black panther. I liked the idea of fighting against oppression and making the world a better place for my people. My career as a panther was cut short before it even began. I…

Training Thursday

Since Tuesday, I have been thinking about how I view teaching vs. training.

"REALLY?!?"... When Potty Training Goes Wrong

Sometimes my toddler makes me crazy! I try to look at the world through her eyes and understand what she might be thinking or how things make her feel, but sometimes all I get out of it is “REALLY?!?”. I mean I understand the developmental stage of a two year old in complex and…

My Rant about Nap Time

My little monster never (rarely) takes a nap for me.  She loves her mommy so much that she doesn’t want to close her eyes at all when I am around.  Nevermind the fact that I enjoy quiet time and I can accomplish a lot more when she is down for nap.  No, she parties hard when mommy’s around.

This semester, for the first time ever, I am taking day classes because I have to (budget cuts, lack of classes, last semester for B.A., etc.).  So I go to school at 1:00.  Guess what my little one…

the Love of Motherhood

Like all mothers out there, I love all my children the same, but differently. The amount of love I have for each of them is immeasurable, but the things I love about them and the experiences I have with each of them are quite different.

I love my first born in a special way, because he is just that … my first born. Together we have experienced so many firsts that have been indelibley etched in my brain and on my heart. God willing, we will have many more before my journey is through.… Continue
