Beach Baby Shower Theme

With warmer weather just around the corner the beach baby shower theme is perfect for the season.  We absolutely love the surf baby shower theme for both boys and girls! It is casual and fun, great for a couple’s shower or a mommy-to-be who loves the beach.  Turn your home or backyard into a tropical oasis and give the mom-to-be a relaxing day at the beach.  Is your guest list ready to hang ten?

If it’s found at the beach, it can be included in the beach themed baby…

My Home Away From Home

My family has always been cottage-goers.  Growing up, a few relatives had cottages, but one in particular had very special memories, and always felt like home.

My Aunt and Uncle owned a small cottage on a quiet little bay.  It wasn't anything extravagant, but I have some of the best memories of my childhood from up there.  This cottage sat on a small cliff with about 50 stairs…

How to Be Summer Ready

As summer finally begins to make itself known around here (I know, everyone else is experiencing record highs, right?), last week I found myself feeling outsmarted again by our stuff.

"OK, everyone outside."

"Wait, where's your hat?"

"Do you have sunblock on yet?"

"I don't know. Where IS the sunblock?"

"Who used the sunblock last?!"

I've said it a million times. But here it goes again. My job description oftentimes feels like it must read: 50% SAHM duties /…

Things I've Learned This Week

** Naked is evidently the way to go this summer.

** As much as I love my husband, I really don't think I'd tackle someone trying to throw a pie in his face.

** Chopsticks actually help get my kids to eat their veggies.

** My son thinks I'm a car and driver expert.

** I am NOT a car and driver…

Central Park Conservancy Run For Central Park - Race Recap

The Central Park Conservancy Run for Central Park was my sixth qualifying race for the NYC 2012 Marathon, and one that I'd been deliberating over for most of the preceding week. This was my third 4 mile race of the year, and the second time I'd run this course. Last time had been at the NYRR 4 mile back in April, where I'd knocked 4 minutes off my previous time and exceeded all my expectations. It was a brilliant race for…

A Letter to the Liquor Store

Dear Liquor Store,

Perhaps you may have heard some rumblings about the impending summer vacation that's about to pounce on the town here any day now. Yes, kids will soon be out terrorizing the streets and pimping lemonade hardcore on every effing corner. They will be changing their clothes 357 times a day, thereby creating even more…

How to Keep Your Kids From Murdering Each Other This Summer

So if you're anything like me, you're trying your damnedest to find something for your kids to do so that they don't kill each other over summer vacation.  And that "something" would preferably be an activity that keeps 'em occupied for a long stretch of time, perhaps even long enough for Mama to have a well-deserved glass of wine and maybe even *gasp* take a pee in…

Nauticaus w/ Lighting Bolt Man & Inspector Gadget aka my boys

The Naticaus, based out of Norfolk, Va.They retired the USS Wisconsin, and turned her into a 3story museum. Ranging from Ocean life, History of Jamestown to Naval History. We had such a wonderful time at the Nauticaus, in semi costume at that. Gabe so wanted to where his Liberty Spikes, but unfortunately, I was out of hair spray, so he had to settle for making a costume instead.  He is such a character. I swear, he…
