Is Swimming Safe While Pregnant?

In decades past, pregnant women were encouraged to take it easy and rest up in preparation for labor and motherhood. However, contemporary research shows that being inactive during pregnancy does more harm than good—making labor more difficult and increasing your risk of postpartum complications like bladder leakage and hemorrhoids. As new information about pregnancy exercise circulates, you may be wondering how to work out safely without risking overheating or oxygen deficiency (hypoxia).…

Swimming: Underwater Meditation

The water is your friend.  You don't have to fight with water, just share the same spirit as the water, and it will help you move.  -Aleksandr Popov

Family Fun – Spending the Afternoon at the Swimming Pool

Yesterday afternoon I decided to take the kids to the swimming pool for a bit of afternoon fun.  My older kids have been asking when they could go swimming every since school has been out for the summer.  I decided that I would surprise the kids and let them go swimming.  The look on their face was “priceless” when they discovered that we were going to go swimming.

Swimming Pool Safety Tips to Keep You and Your Family Safe This Summer

I always loved summer time as a kid, it meant spending time at the pool and hanging out with my friends on the weekends.  While I was growing up, my mom would often invest in a small wading pool for us so that we could swim in the backyard.  A wading pool is a small pool that is usually a few feet deep and can fill it up with water so that you can swim…

The Water Park Souvenir

If you've ever wondered where all the germs go to party, I'm pretty sure I figured out their favorite stomping ground.  Just visit any given water park, and you'll surely find a whole gaggle of germ dudes and germ dudettes gettin' their freak on.  How do I know this?  Cause my family just spent this past weekend at one, and I've got the mental scars (and the super sexy fever…

Tredding the Waters with My AquaTot

This summer, I'm taking another round of "swimming" classes with my toddler. For her, it's a way to get comfortable in the water; I know she will not master the art of the backstroke but she will learn to float on her back.

But for me, it's a lesson on what not to wear, what to bring and what to really do in the water with my tot! (Yes moms and dads, if you want your child to blow bubbles in the pool then you too must insert face in water!)

Come share…
