The challenge of finding the balance between perfection and reality, so that Thanksgiving can be enjoyed by all, including mom. Sometimes we get too caught up in the Norman Rockwell or Martha Stewart illusion of Thanksgiving.  And that is precisely what it is, an illusion.  In this segment of Moms’ Timeout will be discussing ways to simplify…

Impressive In Seconds: I was recently interviewed for this month’s issue of First magazine.

However, because of the short space, the editor could not include a lot of my questions and answers. I decided to post it here on my blog. I thought this might be helpful to my readers. I added a few more lines to help facilitate reading. Here's the link: http://www.napkinwizard.com/blog/

The Reluctant Poo-ologist

I don't know what my son's deal is.  He is legendary now for his poo-splosions and I don't know why he is so adept in that area.  My friend actually asked me the other day if I may be putting the diapers on wrong.  Now, I'm not saying I do everything right, I certainly don't, but after nearly 7 months of daily diapering and lots of up-the-backs, I make sure the boo's bum is covered.  She also told me that with her daughter she only had 4, maybe 5 "blowouts" (as she called them) TOTAL.  "Ha!"…

Changing Table Mise En Place

I love everything about cooking. I love to cook, find new recipes, watch cooking shows, etc. My brother is a chef and I love chatting with him about flavor combinations and knife skills. One thing about cooking that is very important (and you know this very well if you’ve been watching Worst Cooks in America) is prep work.  Before the…

QUEST FOR CHAIRS-MY VINTAGE FIND!

I had searched for some dining chairs and a table for what seemed to be FOREVER...until I saw some vintage chrome chairs on ebay! The only problem was, they were being sold by someone in New York and the auction was for pick up only. Determined to have them, I emailed the seller and begged her to ship them to me.
