Travails of a work-from-home mom

Yes, being a work-from-home mom is not for the faint-hearted. And I’m not even getting started on the bad days when schools are shut, or the children fall ill or the help mysteriously disappear to their gaons (villages) for vague, unexplained reasons. So the next time, someone you know tells you she’s a work-from-home mom, give her an encouraging pat on the back. Even better, take her out for coffee or offer to watch her kids while she takes a luxurious ten minute shower. Trust me,…

Pregnancy Myths and Old Wives’ Tales

Since I fell pregnant about seven months ago, I have heard and pretty much collected lots of pregnancy myths and old wives’ tales, wrapped in the form of advices, from my family, relatives and friends. They meant well by telling me all those advices but somehow I don't exactly follow or believe most of them as I understand that their claims are not medically or scientifically proven. If they were true, to some degree, my Gynae herself would have informed me those advices…

The Best of 2011

I so wish I could say that my blog post with the most hits was one of substance, one that would affect change in someone's life, one that would leave a mark.  But alas, much like Billy Ray - who laughed all the way to the bank with "Achey Breaky", I am laughing all the way to Shanda's Best of 2011 Blog Hop at A Pause on the Path with the very…

Over the Hump

I just have to share this.  Do you know those motorized rides you see at the supermarket or the mall?  They look like little cars or boats that you have to pop in some quarters for them to start.  They just rock back and forth and play sounds.  Until today Izzy has been deathly afraid of them.  Continue

Izzy's B-day Part 1

This past weekend has been a little crazy. Our little girl turned TWO on Saturday and planning her birthday party was a mixture of joy and stress. I didn't want the craziness of her first birthday to become a recurring theme but I also wanted her to feel like it was a special day. Last year we held it at our home in Santee with over 40 guests. It was extremely hot and we didn't have enough room for seating. It's just felt crowded and rushed.… Continue

The Little House That Love Built

Once upon a time, there was a little girl named, Bunny. Her parents moved her to the country, without a thought to asking her if she wanted to go, and made her live in a house that had no neighbors to play with, no paved streets to ride her bike on

and that had an army of bugs always on the ready to attack. When she moved to the country, she was

afraid of dogs and horse, but her parents felt the need to fill the house, yard

and pasture with a lot of these…
