Down the train steps, I went. " I am HOMELESS and HUNGRY can you please HELP" read the sign. He looked to be in his late teens perhaps early twenties but I just glanced in a rush,…Continue

When my son was only five weeks old, we toured the school we would be sending him to when I returned to work. We walked through each of the brightly lit rooms, starting with the infant room. We ended the tour in the room of three-year-olds. Those children looked massive to me and I could not wrap my head around my little baby being one of those giants one day.…Continue

I don’t know what it is about this gym, but I really like it there. The lady who seems to be in charge was there alone when we arrived early for class and I talked to her about Martial Arts a little since we had time.
With that time I immediately asked some…Continue

Does you teenager have their own cell phone or have access to the computer? If so, parents you should be aware that your child may be sending or receiving inappropriate messages, texts, photos, or videos of themselves. In order to keep your child safe, you should randomly check their phone and monitor social media applications to see what type of activity they are involved in on their cell phone or computer. Many teens are participating in a different form of sexual activity known…Continue

As your tween or teenager begins to mature and grow up, they will begin building relationships with the opposite sex. It is important for your child to have these relationships so that they can develop the communication and personal skills to develop healthy long term relationships for the future. As…Continue

Most teenagers enjoy hanging out at the mall for several hours on the weekends so that they can spend time with their friends and window shop, unless they have money to spend. In fact, I remember doing this when I was a teenager, I enjoyed roaming around the mall and catching up with my friends. Most…Continue

A few of you out there may have a teenage boy. I personally have a 14 year old boy and am constantly stunned (and puzzled) how his behavior contrasts that of his older sister. I mean, I know there is of course a difference between boys and girls but this to me seems weird: he is embarrassed to wear sunscreen. Is your son/grandson the same way?
My most recent blog post provides a little bit of an overview of his distain for…Continue

When I first met Taylor Greenberg Goldy, I asked her to speak to the person in charge of ChariTotes. Little did I know that this young, bright, 17 year old was the brainchild behind ChariTotes Design-A-Bag!
What a great story…Continue

They didn’t have that shit when I was in middle school! But hey, times are a changin’ right?
It’s just another way to get us parents to spend more money and compete with each other to see who buys the best, most expensive dress/tux, etc, etc. I mean the whole idea was that senior prom…Continue

Several weeks ago a friend who is struggling to find a way to get along with her 14 year old daughter asked me how I coped with raising a teenager. I told her that my daughter and I got along great during her teen years, and actually had fun together. A look of shock mixed with disbelieve came over her face. She asked, “So what is your secret?” Having never given much thought to the subject, I decided to ask my daughter…Continue

.....sometimes I don't recognise the 'alien' who has taken over my son JK’s body & walks out of his room in the mornings! One minute he was a charming, sweet, communicative, HELPFUL little boy, who worshipped & adored his mommy (sigh) & then one day....well, one day, I think aliens descended, abducted him, gave him a brain & hormone implant & sent ‘something’ back to me!
