For many the beginning of the Holiday season begins on Thanksgiving Day, however, for us, it *officially* begins on Thanksgiving parade day...no, not the big New York parade or even the Thanksgiving Day parade here in Philly. Every year we take Eamon to get his first glimpse of Santa Claus at the Mayfair Thanksgiving Parade in northeast Philadelphia. Without further notice we have no choice but to accept the fact that the holidays are here, I personally love the holidays with all the decorating, cooking and eating and sleeping sounds wonderful! (Notice I did not mention family) Not everyone has the extended family where everyone gathers and spends time with each other and if only for one or two days a year act like they like each other or can at least tolerate them for a few hours for…Continue

I cannot be the only one...who thinks the corporations that thought it was a good idea to make the day after Thanksgiving, the one day of the year that is synonymous with eating and drinking too much, the same day as the biggest shopping day of the year, are a group of evil masterminds. While thinking about these wicked geniuses I envisioned the consumer prepping for their Black Friday, I imagined it went something like this:…

I cannot be the only one...who feels obligated to have a list that shows all my gratitude ready at a moments notice to share with those around me on Thanksgiving. Please don't misinterpret my sense of obligation with being ungrateful, I am very, very thankful for the many people and the things in my life, I am just not fond of an on the spot listing of those things (sometimes in front of a decent sized audience). To prepare myself for this spotlight on Thanksgiving I decided to put together…Continue

Halloween and Thanksgiving are quickly approaching, so I decided to get my youngest son to help me make some cute pumpkin table decorations using construction paper. I laid newspaper down on the kitchen table so that my youngest son wouldn’t get glue all over the table. I keep a stash of craft and supplies in my …Continue

For Thanksgiving, we go to my husband’s parents house each year. I haven’t had to cook a turkey in a long time, which I kinda miss because my turkey always came out very moist and juicy. In fact, many years ago I would cook the turkey on the BBQ grill (charcoal). I loved cooking on the BBQ grill because that meant that I had more room in my oven for cooking the side dishes. However, you can still make my awesome turkey in the oven. For the recipe for a moist and juicy turkey learn…Continue
