Making Time For Family

It seems as my son has gotten older it has become harder for us to make family time. I think back to the days when we would take weekend getaways, family trips and even day trips to local attractions.  I have so many good memories of those days and miss them as well.

Even when my son was in high school and playing sports, my husband and I looked forward to attending all of his games and supporting him.  We enjoyed traveling to new places to…

The full story of media abstinence for children

Before our son was born, my husband and I talked about what kind of environment we wanted for him. And one of the areas we agreed on was that we wouldn't expose him to a lot of media. The decision came from information from several sources citing that media use was not good for infants.

Since that time, more research has been done, and a more complete story has…

Traditional families in the game of Life

Santa brought us the board game Life for Christmas. I hadn't played that game since I was a child, and I was genuinely surprised at the amount of changes to it: The careers are different, there are lots more action cards and it is much harder to go into debt.…

Trying to stay off the "mommy track" at work

As mentioned in the past, I work for a great company with a great group of people. There are a lot of women on my team, and there are a lot of mothers. We understand what it means to be a working parent: We watch one another's backs and fill in when family emergencies arise.…
