I blog about motherhood. But sometimes, my blog makes me a bad mother.
These observations came to me slowly over the course of several weeks. I've only been blogging for six months now, but my competitive drive to inflict my writing on the eyes of others, to showcase every funny story or present informative product review videos, sometimes clouds my ability to 'mom' appropriately.…

When I found out I was having a boy, I cried. Not beautiful, happy tears, no. I cried ugly, horrendous tears of mourning. I cried because I was not having a girl. That's right: my baby hadn't even left my uterus, and I was already the worst mother in the world.
Before you can comment on… Continue

Communication. At 28 years old, it's a skill I still haven't even fully developed yet. To expect a baby or toddler to master a skill that most adults haven't completely grasped yet is a recipe for disappointment. In my experience, most tantrums are caused by a toddler feeling like their wants and needs are going unheard. Since the vocabulary of wee ones is still limited, teaching our toddler sign language has saved us (at least several) arm flailing, back arching, high-pitched screeching… Continue

If you’re anything like me, you probably fantasized for much of your life about having a little mini me one day.
Yes, there’d be a partner in the equation, but their genes wouldn’t matter much. Or something like that.
Of course, the reality of parenthood is that our…

I haven't had a shower today. Or brushed my hair. I was convinced I would make it to CrossFit at some point. And I never did. So I've been in full gym paraphernalia all day... With unbrushed hair and unbathed body.
Yes- I went to Publix like… Continue

Let's face it! With a Toddler, it's so hard to keep their attention. They get bored quick. On days that they have to stay… Continue

I have a confession.
I get that same fluttery feeling from appliance stores that most women get from Target. I browse countertop samples, light fixtures, closet systems, and cabinets for hours. I look at molding and backsplashes and flowers. Then, right before I leave I visit my most favorite section- the paint samples....and I collect about 100 paint chips. (I'm not even going to tell you how long those will stay in my the… Continue

My son shouted, “I want popcorn!” I quickly responded, “Please go back into the other room and come back in here and ask me the correct way. Try again.” He obliged and returned stating, “May I have some popcorn please?” I always have to stay on him, but dog gone it, he is going to get… Continue

I get it. You're two, You've figured out that you are your own person with the ability to make choices. You know what you like, you know what you don't like. Namely, you don't like being told what to do. Frankly, I don't like that either. I feel your pain.
But, here's the thing. Mommy… Continue

In our household I think about sleep a lot: Who is getting enough of it and how to get more quality sleep. I am obsessed over my own sleep as well as that of the bears I live with and help wake up in the morning.… Continue

Before our son was born, my husband and I talked about what kind of environment we wanted for him. And one of the areas we agreed on was that we wouldn't expose him to a lot of media. The decision came from information from several sources citing that media use was not good for infants. Continue
Since that time, more research has been done, and a more complete story has…

I remember when Will was learning to talk. His first word was appropriately 'ball' as we constantly played ball with our puppy and the only toys the 10 month old liked were 'balls.' He soon said 'Dada' changing the last syllable to '-o' within a week. All he said were those two words, and a barking sound that resembled his grandparent's beagle. I remember telling Daddo, 'He's never going to say 'Momma.' But he assured me that one day he would eventually pick up more words and most likely… Continue

We've all been there, so don't worry if your child is not always an angel. Tantrums are real and happen to the nicest of children. A tantrum is defined as "an outburst or display of excited anger," and you must admit that we adults sometimes find ourselves having tantrums of our own.… Continue

If your kids are past infancy and you've never had a bad mom day, I can't be friends with you. I just can't. It will never work. You are not from this planet, and I think it's best for my kids if I don't bring extra terrestrials around.
I mean every sane person has a bad mom day.
If you're here on earth, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Sometimes it starts from the moment you wake up. Other times if creeps up on you around noon. Everything everyone is saying is…
