The Technology Savvy Baby And Fisher-Price...
Fisher-Price products have been a staple in my home since the birth of my children. Since 1930, Fisher-Price has been crafting products for young children that are not only safe and age appropriate, they help our children’s… Continue

I can't decide when to purchase Izzy her first bike/trike. Once in awhile we make a trip out to Toys R US to play. It gives her the opportunity to play. We make a two hours of it just to window shop and try things out. The last time we were there was the first time she wanted to sit on a trike and was… Continue

As soon as a baby enters our world everything changes. We no longer have the extra funds to eat out, nor do we have the energy. After all, isn’t just finding time to take a shower a feat that makes us smile from ear to ear?
I don’t find it necessary to be an extreme couponer to be frugal. While I would truly love the idea of being able to dedicate the kind of time, focus, and dedication it requires to take couponing to that level of success that…

After reading an article yesterday about how often you should bathe your child, I started to think about our own bath time routine. Joshua is 18 months old now and since he was a few weeks old we have given him a bath every night, without fail. In fact the only time he's missed his night time bath is on the odd occassion when we've had no hot water (thanks to a crumby boiler!). Continue
Bath time is important not just for the obvious cleanliness reasons but for Joshua it's a change of…

Pretty Dolls by Kimberly Dana, a finalist in the Children’s Picture Book category at the 2011 Pacific Northwest Writers Association Literary Contest, is a delightful story about overcoming jealousy and the love a girl can share with her special doll, no matter what she looks like.
Little Tasha has several… Continue

Grandparents are special people;
- There are lots of t-shirts complimenting their generosity (If daddy says no, grandpa says yes).
- We have special days to honor them with house plants & neck ties.
- They are presented with global awards for their outstanding service (World’s Best Grandparent).
- They are the most cost-effective child care option and provide a low grandparent-grandchild ratio to provide special…

I'm a recovering Barbie-addict. I played with them until I was like 16, and I still would if I didn't have all boys. I'm a little burnt out on trucks, pirates and Spiderman, so anytime we're at someone's house and they have little girls, I'll immediately wonder if they have Barbies. I even have a method:
- I'll make eye contact with the girl. Whether she's across the room or simply in the seat next to me, eye contact will be…

I’ve already confessed to forgery. But I’ve done other hard crimes too.
It’s no secret to anyone who knows me or reads this blog that Barbies were an important part of my childhood. Not in a BFF kind of way, but more in a drug addict kind of… Continue

My son doesn’t have a Jack-in-the-box. Excuse me while I pause and breathe a sigh of relief.
But what does alarm me are the toys that play music, light up, or have some other battery operated function… especially at 3 am.
If you’re a mom it’s not hard to imagine that 3 am wake-up call from your child. You hear a small sound coming from the baby monitor and hope it doesn’t become a bigger more upset sound. But the moans and groans become a cry and you accept your fate (if you… Continue

It's Friday the Thirteenth. Only seems appropriate to blog today about something creepy. How about your child's creepiest toy?
There really isn't anything that can make a horror movie freakier than having a traditional children's toy turn into some kind of demonic character. You could look at the other side of it all as in Toy Story where the toys actually come to life when 'people' aren't around. I remember being woken up in the middle of the night less than a year ago by one of… Continue

My sister is 4 years younger than me. When we were just kids, those 4 years felt more like 40. We were, and remain to this day, total opposites. I’m reserved, she’s outgoing. I play it safe, she takes risks. I like books, she likes being active. I’m girly, she’s a tomboy. But growing up in rural Pennsylvania gave us few options for playmates. We had no choice but to get along or be alone.
Opposites or not, we could always get along long enough to play Barbies.
Our evenings and… Continue

As I have said before, I have wanted children for a very long time. Despite this, I still cannot comprehend the fact that I am, actually, a mother now and responsible for a little dude. Although the desire was always there, the idea of having children always seemed foreign and distant; a concept too big to grasp, like pondering the size of the universe.
Now here I… Continue

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through our pad,
Every creature was stirring, being exceptionally bad.
The stockings were hung too close to the floor,
And Goatdog was eating each one that he tore.
The twins were bouncing off the walls in their… Continue

Again…why do we buy toys?
I know I have said this before but I still am trying to figure our why my hubby and I buy toys for or kids.

** Skid marks can suck it.
** If you can drive five REALLY loud eight-year-old girls without wrecking the car, you can do just about anything.
** I think I'm gonna make it easier on myself and just give everyone access to my bank account this Christmas.
** Stupidity is what makes the world go round (or at least it seems… Continue
